    • Newspaper Article - Wednesday, December 31, 1913 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Married Fifty Years - Mr. and Mrs. George H. Reese, of Albion, Surprised by Their Children - On December 16, 1863, in the village of Philadelphia, New York, Mr. George H. Reese and Fanny Drake, of that village were united in marriage. The following day Mr. Reese shouldered his musket and went into the service of the United States to help put down the rebellion. It was two years before he returned to his bride and then went back to Jefferson county where they remained a number of years, later removing to the town of Albion, Seamans District, where they have since resided. Five children were born to the union and four of them are living, Mrs. Z. T. Mattison, of Albion, near the parents; Mrs. Frank Brownell, of Orwell; Mrs. Lewis Nichols, of Fernwood; Clarence, of Syracuse. One son, Charles, died a few years ago. They have five grandchildren. On the date of the fiftieth anniversary of the wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Reese, their children and grandchildren gathered at their home and made the day a real celebration of the unusual event. The son, Clarence, could not be present but send a bouquet of carnations. Friends of the venerable couple gave them _ of their remembrance of the event by sending many postcards. Mr. and Mrs. Reese _ very good health and enjoying the opening of the new half century very hopeful of many more years of happiness together.

      Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, August 17, 1950 Sandy Creek News - Sandy Creek, New York - Orwell Woman Is Killed in Crash Mrs. Carrie Reese Brownell, 77, of Orwell was killed about 2:45 Monday, August 14, 1950 in a head-on auto collision which occurred on the Altmar-Howardville county road when cars driven by Lee Howard, 72 of Orwell and Lee Musick, 17 of Chaffee came together. Four others were injured in the accident, two requiring hospitalization. They were Miss Susie Little, retired school teacher, concussion of the brain and lacerated left ankle, and Lee Howard of Orwell, who were taken to Oswego hospital; and Lee Musick, driver of the other car, and Richard Graham of Franklinville, a passenger, who sustained multiple cuts and bruises. Trooper Robert G. Karle of Pulaski substation, who investigated reported that apparently the Musick car was northbound on the narrow county road when it and the Howard vehicle collided. Both cars were damaged badly. Mrs. Brownell, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Reese, had resided in Orwell most of her life. She was the widow of Frank Brownell, who died in 1934. Surviving are two sons, Lt. Col. George R. Brownell of Nutley, New Jersey and Zachary T. Brownell of Orwell; a sister Mrs. Louis Nichols of Fernwood, and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Foster funeral home in Pulaski Wednesday afternoon and burial was at Orwell.
