    • Newspaper Obituary - December 10, 1987 Post Standard - EMMA W. CROSS - Services for Emma Winifred Cross, 78, 238 Allen Park Avenue, who died Monday in Oneida City Hospital, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main St., Oneida. The Rev. Bruce S. Barden, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will be in Glenwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Madison County ARC. Born in Waterville, she was a lifelong resident of this area. She resided in Chittenango for many years until moving to Oneida in 1982. Mrs. Cross retired from the Rome Development Center. Mrs. Cross, with her sisters, Irene Hubbard and Nellie De Vaul, formed the singing group, ``The Singing Grandmothers,'' in 1958. The group first appeared on the television program, ``Name That Tune'' and performed on national and regional television and radio shows. She was a member of the Civil Sevice Employees Association. Surviving is one son, Michael Carney of Upper Marlboro, Md.; two daughters, Emma Becker of Canastota and Carol Smith of Durhamville; one stepdaughter, Jane Griffin of Verona; three sisters, Laura Miller, Irene Hubbard and Nellie De Vaul of Oneida; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
