    • Newspaper Obituary - November 03, 1960 Pulaski Democrat - Ronald Tanner Killed In Highway Mishap, Sunday - Ronald A. Tanner, 17, was fatally injured Sunday afternoon at the Salmon River Falls road in the Town of Orwell, when a towed doodlebug he was guiding whiplashed, throwing him to the pavement. Young Tanner, the foster son of Mrs. William Howlett of the Richland road, was assisting William Lewis, Jr., also of the Richland road, in moving the 1923 ehasis of a car a short distance down the road. Dr. H. M. McChesney of Pulaski pronounced the youth dead at the scene. According to Sgt. Earl Andrews, of the Pulaski substation who investigated, the accident happened shortly after 3 p.m. when Tanner and Lewis were in the process of moving the old junk frame. The road is a back gravel road, and apparently the chassis flipped in the gravel, throwing young Tanner to the ground killing him instantly. An autopsy was ordered at the Oswego County laboratory which revealed a crushed chest. Services were held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Taylor Funeral Home with the Rev. Edward Vander Hey of the Baptist Church officiating. Interment was in Pulaski Cemetery. He is survived by his foster mother, Mrs. William Howlett of Pulaski; his father, Ronald Tanner of Nevada; three brothers, Donald, Harold and Richard Tanner of New Haven; five sisters, Mrs. John Bentley and Mrs. Arlene Mitchell of Fulton, Mrs. Marilyn Tyler of Cato, Miss Joyce Tanner of Scriba and Miss Joan Tanner of Cato; five foster brothers, Dr. Harlan Howlett of Pleasant Valley, Alfred of Tullly, William of Fresno, Calif., Charles of Belmont and Carl Howlett of Pulaski; two foster sisters, Mrs. Elmer (Lois) Roberts of Pulaski and Mrs. Tony (Coral) Rinaldo of Oneida. Ronald was born in Brewerton, Dec. 17, 1942, and was the son of Donald Tanner. He had lived with Mrs. Howlett the past 12 years and attended Pulaski school.
