      William H. Davis, 83, Pulaski, died Sunday at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown.

      Mr. Davis became a journeyman tool and die maker and worked in the Syracuse and Rochester areas for Sealright and General Electric Co., retiring from Miller Brewing Co., Fulton, in 1990.

      Born Jan. 27, 1925, in Pulaski, son of Arthur W. and Mamie M. Mowers Davis, he attended Pulaski Central School and left school during World War II to join the Marine Corps.

      He served with the 3rd Marine Division in the South Pacific from Guadalcanal to Guam and participated in the Bougainville campaign. Returning to the United States, he finished his service as a rifle instructor at Parris Island, S.C. He served three more years in the reserves and was discharged in 1949.

      He married Betty Wadsworth on Aug. 10, 1946.

      An avid hunter and fisherman throughout his life, he was a member of Pulaski Rod and Gun Club and Albion Rod and Gun Club, where he shot trap for many years. He also was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7289 and American Legion Post 358.

      Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Irene Davis Rindos, Little River, S.C., and Paula Davis Vrooman, Pulaski; a sister, Ruth Davis Bennett, Pittsfield, Mass., five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

      A graveside service will be at a later date. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are with Foster-Hax Funeral Home.
