      Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, August 10, 1933 Oswego Palladium Times - Oswego, New York - Illness Fatal To Two Members Of Same Family - Victor Martin and John Tilkins, Brothers-In-Law, Die at Homes - Pulaski, August 10 - (Special) - Two deaths in the same family occurred within a few hours of each other in this section when Victor Martin, 74, died Wednesday night at his home in Factory street and a long illness proved fatal early Thursday morning to his brother-in-law, John Tilkins of Bridge street. Mr. Martin was about as usual Wednesday and was preparing to go on a berry picking trip when he suffered a shock from which he failed to rally. A native of New Haven, he had been a farmer in the Pulaski area about 26 years, moving into the village about five years ago. He was born June 19, 1859, son of the late Austin and Sophia Fulney Martin. He attended the Methodist Episcopal church and was united in marriage, May 12, 1889 with Nettie Tilkins, who survives him. Besides his wife he leaves one son, Clarence Martin, Centerville; one daughter, Mrs. Mary Redding, Red Mills; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Gore, Parish, Mrs. Rose Veader, Syracuse, and Mrs. Cora Miller, Detroit; two brothers, James of Tully and Steven of Fulton, and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the home Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. H. H. Barnard of Richland Methodist church officiating and burial in Daysville cemetery. John Tilkins was the son of the late Frank and Delia Goodroe Tilkins and was born April 21, 1858, near Port Ontario. He was a farmer until about eight years ago when he moved to this village. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lettie Tilkins; two sons, Louis, Richland, and Lawrence, Auburn; two daughters, Mrs. Tracy Gordon, Parish, and Mrs. Mary Tanner, Mannsville, and one sister, Mrs. Nettie Martin. Funeral services will be at the home Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. John Warren of the local Methodist church officiating and burial in Sandy Creek.
