      Newspaper Obituary - December 10, 1927 Syracuse Standard - Syracuse, New York - Central Foreman Dead At Pulaski - End Came Suddenly to DeForest Pond Saturday Afternoon_ - Pulaski, Dec. 10 - (Special) DeForest Pond, 55, died suddenly Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at his residence in Jefferson street. Mr. Pond has been in poor health for about three weeks, but the end came with startling suddenness and was a shock to the entire village. Mr. Pond was a native of Daysville, town of Richland, and resided in this village and vicinity for a number of years. Mr. Pond was foreman of painters on the New York Central Railroad, and was known at all points on the division. He is survived by his widow, two sons, Robert Pond and Charles Pond, of Pulaski, and a sister, Mrs. M. G. Sampson, 72 West Mohawk street, Oswego. Deceased was a member of the order of Odd Fellows. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.
      Newspaper Obituary - December 14, 1927 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - DeForest Pond Dies After Several Weeks Illness ┬ČThe news of the death of DeForest Pond, at his South Jefferson street residence, came as a distinct shock to the many friends of the family shortly after noon last Saturday, as few knew that Mr. Pond was at home and ill. For some twenty or more years, Mr. Pond has been foreman of the paint crew of the R. W. & O. Division of the N. Y. C. R. R., and his work has taken him away from home a great deal. His friends have seen him usually every weekend only. He had been confined to his home for some five weeks with a heart trouble that in the end proved fatal. Mr. Pond was born in Fernwood, April 24, 1872. His home has been in Pulaski several years and he had many acquaintances and friends here. He is a member of Pulaski Lodge 649, I. O. 0_ F., and of the N. Y. C. Veteran's Association. He is survived by a widow and two young sons, George and Robert, both high school boys, and a sister, Mrs. M. G. Sampson of Oswego. The funeral was conducted from the family home Monday afternoon at two o'clock by the Rev. Charles Bollinger, pastor of the Methodist church with burial in Willis cemetery.
