  • Notes
    • David D. Clark - April 19, 1858 - February 14, 1922. Son of Barney and Caroline Hilton Clark. Husband of Augusta Mary Sage Clark. Married November 26, 1879 in Orwell Township, Oswego County, New York.
Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, February 22, 1922 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - David D. Clark - In the passing away of David D. Clark, which occurred at his home in the village of Orwell, Tuesday, February 17, after two months illness, caused by chronic pancreas, the community lost a citizen highly respected and honored by those who knew him. His sterling worth as a man and his kindness of heart as a neighbor and friend were the assets of his character. He was born in the town of Orwell, April 19, 1858, being a son of Barney and Caroline Hilton Clark. His mother passed away not long since at the ripe age of ninety-two years. He was united in marriage to Augusta M. Sage, November 26, 1879, who, with two sons, John B. Clark of Orwell, and Arthur Clark, Richland, survived. A brother, O. B. Clark, Buffalo, and a sister also survive. His funeral was held at the Orwell Union church, Friday, February 17, Rev. T. T. Davies officiating. The members of Welcome Lodge, I.O.O.F. attended in a body and conducted the beautiful burial service of the order. Interment in the Orwell Evergreen cemetery. The large concourse of mourning friends in attendance at the funeral services evinced the large place the departed failed in the life of the community. Most of his life was spent in the town of Orwell. Until his retirement ten years ago, his occupation was that of farming. He was an agriculturist of ability and well succeeded in making two blades of grass grow where only one grew before. He was interested in his chosen work, and was a valued member of the Orwell Grange, Patrons of Husbandry. Gone but not lost. His memory shall remain green in the hearts of his friends for many years to come. -T.T.D.
