    • Newspaper Article - Thursday, September 5, 1878 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - South Richland, September 2, 1878 - Editor Democrat: We wish to say a few words through your paper in regard to the very pleasant wedding of Miss Hattie Carr and L. G. Calkins, which occurred itself Richland on Wednesday of last week. The parents of the bride have been untiring in their efforts to make the occasion a pleasant and memorable one, and it was truly a success. The supper was bountiful and faultless. Great credit is due Mr. and Mrs. Dunbar, of Hohnesville, for their good taste and attention, also Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Willis, who assisted in presiding at the tables. Among the guests present were Miss Hettie Jones, a very accomplished young lady of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, cousin of the groom, and Mr. Will Wetmore, of Oswego city, who acted as groomsman. The presents were both pleasing and useful, and conspicuous among them were a beautiful set of table linen from Mr. Wetmore and a chair from Miss Jones, which the bride graced at the supper table; a very nice present in silver plate from Mr. C., father of the bride; from a brother-in-law, a very handsome castor; from R. P. Calkins, uncle of the groom, one dozen forks. Many other very useful and pretty articles were given the happy pair, who left on Thursday morning last to visit friends in Hamilton, New York. But for the absence of Mrs. L. R. Slater (sister of the groom,) who is severely ill, the happiness of the occasion would have been complete. We will not omit to say the aged and venerable grandparents were among the guests.
