  • Notes
    • May 20, 1888 ~ Ada Matondo, age 10 years, 7 months, 0 days, born in Albion Township, Daughter of Frank and Clara Matondo, died in Albion Township of inflammation of the bowels.

Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, May 24, 1888 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - On Friday last, a daughter of Frank Montondo was fearfully burned with kerosene. Montondo lives about seven miles south of this village in Albion. The little girl, who was nearly eleven years of age, was trying to light a fire and the oil splattered on her clothing and it ignited. She ran out of the house all ablaze and rolled in a little creek nearby, but not before all her clothing nearly had been burned and dropped off. Dr. Caldwell is attending the case and the child's recovery is quite doubtful.
Later - We learn from a correspondent that the child died on Sunday.

Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, May 31, 1888 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Albion - Died, May 20, 1888, Ada Montondo, aged ten years. As mentioned last week she was kindling the fire with kerosene and her clothing took fire and burned her so badly that she lived less than two days, suffering the while intensely. The funeral was held at the house on the 22nd, and was very largely attended by neighbors and friends who deeply sympathize with the afflicted family. Elder Snow, of Dugway, preached the funeral sermon.
