    • Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, May 6, 1869 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Died - In Orwell, on the 3d inst., Mrs. Olive Wyman, aged 70 years.

Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, May 13, 1869 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Obituary - Olive, wife of Perley Wyman, died at the residence of her husband, in Orwell, May 3d, 1869, in the 71st year of her age. The family has resided in the town for more than half a century, and although they commenced poor, and experienced more than the ordinary trials incident to pioneer life, by industry and frugality they secured a competence. As a wife, mother, and neighbor, she was affectionate, kind and generous. She experienced religion and became a member of the M. E. Church in 1817, retaining her membership in the Church of Christ "Till her body with its charge lay down, and ceased at once to work and live." She was the mother of ten children, eight of whom still survive. Her sickness, (being cancer,) was protracted several months, but she suffered patiently, constantly relying on the mercy of God, for succor and support. She approached death with Christian heroism, by making preparation for the solemn change awaiting her, in having her grave clothes prepared and presented for her inspection, some weeks before she died. She took leave of her companion and children by giving them her parting blessing and words of encouragement and reproof "Farewell, conflicting hopes and fears, Where lights and shades alternate dwell. How bright the unchanging morn appears, Farewell, inconstant world, farewell."
