      James L. Walker, 72, of 1208 N. Lee St., Leesburg, Fla. died Oct. 15.

      He was born Sept. 1, 1917 in Watertown and was the son of Reed and Jeannette Snell Walker. He graduated from Pulaski High School in 1937 and Simmons School of Embalming in Syracuse in 1938.

      He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945. He owned and operated Walkers Dry Cleaners in Pulaski from 1947 to 1972. He also owned and operated Sandy Creek Liquor from 1972 to 1982 when he retired.

      He was a member of the Pulaski Masonic Lodge 415 F&AM, a member of Grand Chapter Royal Arch Masons 279 as well as a member of the Media Shrine Temple, Watertown, and a member of the Ancient Scottish Rites of Syracuse. He was also a member of the Elms Golf Club.

      He was a former mayor, village trustee and justice of the peace of the village of Pulaski. He is a former member of the Ringgold Fire Department and the former chairman of the Eye Bank. He was also a former member of the Oswego S.P.E.B.Q.S.A.

      He is survived by his wife, Eldora; two sons, James L. of Manitou, Colo.. and Douglas of Vail, Colo.; two daughters, Lynne Walker and Christine Walker, both of Denver, Colo.; two stepdaughters, Peggy Warner of Buffalo, and Julie Hanscome of Kersy, Colo.; two stepsons, Dennis Caufield of Houston, Texas, and Kim Caufield of Pulaski; and 10 grandchildren.

      Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 7385 Park St., Pulaski. Services will be at the convenience of the family.
