      Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, October 13, 1966 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - A. Rod Caufield, Village Superintendent, Dies Suddenly - Services for A. Rod Caufield, 42, foreman of the public works of the Village of Pulaski, were held Monday at 2 p.m. at Park Methodist Church, with the Rev. Frank A Halse, Jr., pastor, officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery at Pulaski. Mr. Caufield died unexpectedly early Saturday morning at his home on the Old Mexico Road. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Eldora Smith Caufield; two sons, Dennis A., 18, a student at Mohawk College, and Kim D., 14, at home; three daughters, Peggy Sue, 16, Julie Ann, 10, and Christine Ellen, 3, at home; his step-father and his mother, Mr. and Mrs. S. James Kundell of Sandy Creek; two sisters, Mrs. Edward (Isabelle) Kundell and Mrs. Allen (Viantha) King both of Pulaski; several aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews. Mr. Caufield was born in Pulaski on December 21, 1923, the son of Austin and Dorothy Durgee Caufield. He attended Pulaski High School and served in the United States Marine Corps in the Pacific area until his discharge in 1944. He was later called back into service in the Korean conflict. He was married October 11, 1944, to Eldora C. Smith in Walnut Creek, California. After service in the armed forces he was employed by the New York Central Railroad and then as a heavy duty construction operator by the St. Lawrence Seaway Power Project. He also worked at the Niagara project at Niagara Falls. Since 1964 he had been employed as foreman of Public Works for the Village of Pulaski. He also owned and operated the Pulaski Roller Drome skating rink, and was a member of Park Methodist Church.
