    • Wilbur J. Schneider died February 14, 2007 at Hospice of Marion County Legacy House. He was born October 22, 1921 in Massillon, Ohio, the youngest child of Mary and Leo Schneider.

      He graduated from Massillon's Washington High School. He married the former Joyce Urban of Massillon in 1947. That marriage ended in divorce in 1972. He served with distinction in Europe in World War II as a laboratory technician with the 34th Evacuation Hospital attached to the Third Army. He worked as a laboratory technician with Union Drawn Steel Co. of Massillon until he moved to Clearwater, Florida in 1954. He retired from General Electric Neutron Devices Division in St. Petersburg in 1985 after 28 years as a metallurgical technician. He moved to On Top of the World, Ocala in 1989. He was a member of B.P.O.E., and an active member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church.

      He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Nancy Graham Schneider; two daughters, Carol Ann Rush (James) of Jacksonville, Florida and Janet M. Toombs of Valrico, Florida; two step-sons, Donald Bearden of Cary, NC., and James Bearden of Babylon, New York; one step-daughter, Anne Bearden Simonson (David) of LaJolla, California; three grandsons, three step-granddaughters, one step-grandson, and 5 great grandchildren.

      Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2007 at 1:45 p.m. at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, State Road 200, Ocala. Burial will be at the National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida on Friday, February 23, 2007 at 2 p.m.

      In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be sent to Hospice of Marion County, 3231 SW 34th Avenue, Ocala, Florida 34474 in memory of Wilbur J. Schneider.
