    • Newspaper Article - Wednesday, December 23, 1896 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Wedded in Mannsville - A very pleasant matrimonial event took place at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Fred O. Balch, at Mannsville, last Wednesday evening, at five o'clock, when Miss Lena C. Wilson, sister of Mrs. Balch, and Mr. Earnest W. Potter, son of Mr. William Potter, of this village, were united in marriage. The home was prettily decorated with evergreens and flowers and in the parlor a handsome corner arch was constructed, under which the bridal pair stood to receive the questions and give the answers which made the twain as one. The bride appeared in a handsome gown of blue serge, her hair trimmed with white roses and similar and carried in her hand a large bouquet of white roses. Everyone said, and truthfully, the young lady looked lovely. The bridesmaid was Miss Eva Barnard, of this village, and the best man Mr. Charles Brooks. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Hancock, pastor of the M. E. church at Mannsville. After the ceremony and congratulations, the company was seated and a sumptuous wedding supper was served. Guests from Pulaski were Mr. and Mis. G. W. Douglas, Mr. and Mis. William Potter, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Potter, Mr. M. B. Lighthall and daughter, Mrs. William Wheeler, Mrs. R. E. Thompson, Miss Ella Stewart and Mr. and Mrs. B. G. Seamans. Others from this way were Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Calkins and two sons, Altmar; Mr. M. White and Miss A. White, Orwell; Mr. Charles Reynolds, Mrs. Ann Reynolds, Richland. A very attractive display of useful gifts were observed, which bespoke the high esteem in which the young people are held. Mr. and Mrs. Potter left for Belleville, Canada, Thursday morning and return to this place today to commence housekeeping in the Helen Meacham house, on North Street.
