Born in Richland, he graduated from Pulaski High School in 1934. He retired in 1989 after 60 years as owner and operator of M & M Farms. He was Richland town justice for 33 years and served on the Oswego County Soil and Water Board. He was a member and deacon of Pulaski Baptist Church, 65-year member of Pulaski Grange 730 and member of Pulaski Masonic Lodge 415 F&AM. A son, Marvin L., died in 1993. Survivors: His wife of 60 years, the former Mildred Lester; a daughter, Marianne J. of Watertown; three sons, Michael E. of Warren, Ohio, Dr. Melvyn C. of Richland and Marshall T. Minot Sr., 84, of 2577 County Route 2, died Saturday in Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown. Mr. Minot retired in 1989 after 60 years as owner and operator of M&M Farms. He was Richland town justice for 33 years and served on the Oswego County Soil and Water Conservation District board. He was a former member of the Agway committee. He was a member and deacon of Pulaski Baptist Church, a 65-year member of Pulaski Grange 730 and a member of Pulaski Masonic Lodge 415. Born April 15, 1917, in the town of Richland, son of Edwin and Eva Lighthall Minot, he graduated from Pulaski High School in 1934. He married Mildred Lester on Aug. 31, 1941, at the Baptist church in Pulaski with the Rev. W.R. Rogers officiating. Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Marianne J. Minot, Watertown; three sons, Michael E., Warren, Ohio, Dr. Melvyn C., Richland, and Marshall T. Jr., Pulaski, and four grandchildren. A son, Marvin L., died in 1993. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski. Burial will be in Pulaski Cemetery.

    Newspaper Article - Wednesday, February 7, 1900 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Minot-Lighthall - At the home of the bride's parents, on the Richland road, last Wednesday afternoon, at four o'clock, occurred the marriage of Miss Eva M. Lighthall, only daughter of M. B. Lighthall, to Mr. Edwin Howard Minot, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas F. Minot, of Los Angeles, California. Nearly one hundred guests were present. The pleasant farm home was especially delightful in that the bride and her friends gave much attention to the decorations. In one corner of the spacious parlor was an evergreen arch under which at the appointed hour the bride and groom took position, escorted by the groom's cousin, Mr. Claude Frary and the bride's intimate friend, Miss Golda Gates. The impressive ceremony was recited by Rev. J. Foster Wilcox while Mrs. Royal Whitney played the wedding march and subdued strains of appropriate music during the ceremony. As the bride entered the room she was preceded by her two nieces, Misses Lurel and Leona Lighthall who were dressed in pink and each carried a lovely bouquet of flowers. The bride wore a rich blue gown and caned a bouquet of choice flowers. After the ceremony a wedding supper was served which was very much enjoyed by the large company present. The wedding gifts were beautiful and of great variety. They consisted of the useful and ornamental and while we will not mention the whole list we wish to speak of the gift from the groom's parents, which was a beautiful bronze clock with onyx base and the dial set with emeralds. The bride is well known in Pulaski and has many warm friends who wish her much happiness in the wedded journey and the groom is a highly esteemed young man who is worthy of the circle of warm friends he possesses. After a short wedding journey Mr. and Mrs. Minot are at the bride's home where they will remain for the present. Guests from out of town were Mr. J. E. Calkins and Mr. Hoyt Calkins, of South Albion and Mr. And Mrs. J. F. Hadley of Sandy Creek, and Miss Grace Clifford, of Auburn.

    Edwin H. Minot, son of Tliomas F. and Marvia (Farrington) Minot, was born in Frank-
    fort, N. Y., in 1827, and was reared upon a farm. He married Amelia Hazelton, of Frankfort,
    and removed to South Albion, Oswego County, and engaged in farming. He bad one son and
    two daughters. The son, Thomas F. Minot, was born Jnly 29, 1856, was reared upon a farm,
    and was educated at Pulaski Academy. He married Jennie M., daughter of Emri A. and
    Eliza M. ( Orr) Frary, in 1877, and in the fall of 1883 came to Pierrepont Manor and engaged
    in market gardening. He has two sons and a daughter, viz.: Edwin H., Beula Jessie, and
    Thomas F. Mr. Minot resides at Pierrepont Manor, on road 105.

    Newspaper Article - Thursday, September 13, 1877 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - New Centreville - Wednesday morning, September 5th, a pleasant company assembled at the residence of Mr. Emil Frary, to witness a wedding, or the union of two hearts made into one. Jennie M. Frary and Thomas F. Minot were the happy couple, Rev. Mr. Longstreet officiating. After refreshments and a jolly time, the party accompanied the bride and groom to Richland, where they were to take the cars for the Fast. Upon their arrival at the train, they found another newly wedded pair on their bridal tour. The two parties formed one, and the way the go happy in their own thoughts.

    1895 Landmarks of Oswego County - Lighthall, Marshall B., of German ancestry, was born August 15, 1844, a son of Mitchell Lighthall, who was born in Schenectady, and died in Oswego county aged seventy six. He married Phillisa Guy, who was born in England and died aged seventy two. Their children were Thomas D., Henry D., Mary E., Marshall B., Eleanor J., Nancy A., and Ruth A, Of these, William, Nancy, and Henry are deceased. The latter was a soldier in the 184th N. Y. Vols. at City Point, Va., and died during service. Our subject was educated in the common schools, was a farmer and dairyman, a commissioner of highways for two years, and a member of the Masonic fraternity. He owns 300 acres of fine land, and is one of the leading farmers of the town. In 1864 he married Emma B., daughter of Chauncey and Polly (White) Reynolds, of this county, and their children were Elton M., Eva May, and Leona E., who died aged three years. Elton married Anna Ames, and has three children. Eva May resides at home.

    Newspaper Obituary - July 29, 1925 Pulaski Democrat - Last Rites For Mr. Lighthall - The last rites for Mr. Marshall B. Lighthall were given at the home, Wednesday at two o'clock. Rev. W. S. Warren officiated and Pulaski Lodge, F. & A. M., performed the masonic service at the grave. Vocal selections were rendered by Mr. W. Taylor Barr. Mr. C. W. Calkins of Albany, had a part in the Masonic ceremonies. He was a close friend of Mr. Lighthall. Many floral tributes, including set pieces, were sent by relatives, friends and organizations with which he had been affliated, including Pulaski Lodge 415, F & A. M.; Pulaski chapter 279, R. A. M., of which he was a high priest; Pulaski chapter 159, O.E.S., and Pulaski Grange 630, Patrons of Husbandry, Mr. Lighthall being a past member of last organization. Members attended the obsequies. Among out of town friends attending the funeral was Mr. Lighthall's only sister, Mrs. Byron Frye, of Syracuse.

    Newspaper Obituary - Thursday March 19, 1936 Palladium Times - Aged Richland Resident Dies - Mrs. Emma B. Lighthall Succumbs at Home of Her Daughter - Pulaski - March 19. - Mrs. Emma B. Lighthall, a well known resident in this section for many years died, Wednesday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edward Minot, on the Richland road. She was 90 years old. Mrs. Lighthall was the widow of Marshall Lighthall. She had been in frail health several years and seriously ill the past three weeks. She was born in the town of Richland September 7, 1845, daughter of Chauncey and Polly Ann White Reynolds. She was married to Mr. Lighthall in August 1862, and he died about 11 years ago. Mrs. Lighthall was a charter member of Pulaski chaptor, O.E.S. and Pulaski grange. She was a member of the local Baptist church and active in it as long as her health permitted. Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Minot; one son, Elton M. Lighthall; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at the Minot home Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Lee A Howe, Jr., of the Baptist church officiating and burial in Pulaski cemetery.

    Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, September 9, 1903 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Edwin H. Minot who has been prominent in this village for many years, passed away Friday September 4th, after several weeks of sickness. Mr. Minot was born in Seuyler, Herkimer County 75 years ago. He was inclined after knowledge and therefore obtained a good education and engaged in literary pursuits for some time. He came to this village many years ago and was for some time engaged in the insurance business and has been engaged in agriculture. He was a student of literature and could read the most profound books with perfect understanding. He had a ready pen for sketch and poetry, and has left to his friends a legacy of verse which is worthy a place among best poems written, prominent among which is his poen on "The Salmon River." He leaves a wife, two daughters, Mrs. J. D. Ledgyard and Mrs. E. D. Bennett of this village, and one son, Thomas F. Minot of Los Angeles, California. His funeral was held from the home Sunday at two o'clock, Rev. S. O. Barnes officiating.

Stewart, April 24, 1889, Philissa, widow of Mitchell Lighthall, aged 69 years. The husband of the deceased died about ten months since at Sandy Creek. Mrs. Lighthall was the mother of four sons and three daughters. Two of the sons are dead, one having been killed in the army.

    Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, November 12, 1891 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Died - In Richland, New York, November 3, 1891, Chauncey Reynolds, aged 76 years, 4 months and 12 days. He was born in Rupert, Vermont, June 22, 1815. In 1825 he came to this state, and January 1, 1839, at Sandy Creek, was married to Miss Polly A. White, of Sandy Creek, and went to housekeeping on the same farm on which he was living at the time of his death, living there 52 years. To them were born five children, Milo and Milton died in infancy. Those living are Mrs. W. H. Potter, of Pulaski, Mrs. M. B. Lighthall, of Richland, and Charles F., who has always lived on the homestead with his parents. In 1882 he united with the Methodist Protestant church, of which he was a member at the time of his death. He was an honest, upright man, a kind husband and father, and a good neighbor. His funeral was largely attended at his late residence. The services were conducted by Rev. Wellington Snyder, who was his pastor some eight years ago, interment at Pulaski cemetery.

She was born in the town of Sandy Creek, August 30, 1819, and was married to Chauncey Reynolds in 1839. To them were born five children, three of whom survive her, Mrs. William Potter and Mrs. M. B. Lighthall, of Pulaski, and C. F. Reynolds, with whom she lived.
