    Newspaper Obituary - Saturday, March 20, 1993 Watertown Daily Times - Watertown, New York - Constance Balcom Dies At 89 ¬Constance R. Balcom, 89, of 7343 Lake St., died Friday at St. Luke's Nursing Home, Oswego. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, with the Rev. Elizabeth Mowry officiating. Burial will be in South Richland Cemetery, Fernwood, in the spring. Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Ringgold Fire Department building fund or Northern Oswego County Ambulance. Surviving are five stepsons, Francis E., Pennellville, John R., Hannibal, Earl T., Milford, Ohio, David M. and Alton C., both of Pulaski; 23 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Born in Pulaski, March 18, 1904, a daughter of David and Helen Burr Rogers, she graduated from Pulaski Academy High School in 1922. She graduated from Sandy Creek Teachers Training Class in 1923, and from Oswego State Teachers College in 1938. She taught elementary school at Pulaski Central School for 43 years, retiring June 30, 1967. She married Vann Balcom May 16, 1972, at Park United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jerry Miller officiating. ME Balcom, a dairy farmer, died in February 1980. Mrs. Balcom was a member of the New York State Retired Teachers Association, the Oswego County Retired Teachers Association, the Park United Methodist Church and its Alpha Class, Pulaski Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 157, the Pulaski Tuesday Study Club and the Rosa Garden Club. She was also a member and former trustee of Pulaski Public Library and a member of the Hilton Scholarship Committee..

    Constance married Vann Rennselaer Balcom on 16 May 1972 in Pulaski, Oswego, New York. Vann (son of Evan Robert Balcom and Ella Melvina Fox) was born on 14 Apr 1907 in Redfield Twp., Oswego County, New York; died on 14 Feb 1980 in Richland Twp., Oswego County, New York, USA; was buried in 1980 in Pulaski, Oswego, New York, Usa.     Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, January 19, 1956 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Rites Held For David P. Rogers - David P. Rogers, 78, died Sunday afternoon at his home in Lake Street following a long illness. Services were held from the Foster Funeral Home Wednesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. W. Russell Clark, pastor of the Methodist Church officiating. Interment was in Willis cemetery. Surviving are a daughter, Miss Constance Rogers at home, a teacher of sixth grade at Pulaski Academy and Central School; a son, Lieutenant Commander Eugene Ordway, Naval Air Base, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; a brother, Garfield A. Rogers of Hastings; a sister, Mrs. Edith Hendrickson of Danville, Pennsylvania; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Hannah Rogers of Milton, Pennsylvania; three grandchildren, Karen, Eugene Jr., and David Ordway; several nieces and nephews. Mr. Rogers was born May 27, 1877 at Catasauqua, Pennsylvania, the son of William and Annie Richards Rogers. He came to Pulaski in 1901 and worked for the L. J. Fainterr nursery until 1906 when he became foreman of the New York Central out of Parish for eight years. In 1916 he purchased a farm on the Old Mexico road which he operated until eight years ago when he retired and moved to his present home in Lake Street. He was united in marriage to Miss Helen Burr December 18, 1902, who died December 19, 1929. He was a member of the Methodist Church and the Pulaski Masonic Lodge.

    Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, December 25, 1929 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Mrs. David Rogers Dies In Syracuse Hospital - Mrs. David P. Rogers died at the Crouse-Irving hospital in Syracuse, Thursday, December 19, having been taken there from her home in the Farmer District, the Sunday before, following several weeks of ill health. Helen Burr, was born in this village, February 11, 1874, daughter of the late Elisha and Carrie Jones Burr. She attended school here and graduated from the academy with the class of 1894, and later from the teachers training class. She taught about ten years in the district schools of Richland, Albion and Redfield. On December 18, 1902 she was united in marriage to David P. Rogers. To them one child, Constance Burr Rogers, was born. Mrs. Rogers was a member of the Parish M. E. Church; Pulaski Chapter, No. 159, O. E. S.; Farmer District Home Bureau; Oswego County Board of Junior Extension, and Celia Dewey Seamans Tent, Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War. In all these organizations she was an active worker and had a wide acquaintance and large circle of friends. For more than fifteen years she has been the faithful and capable correspondent of The Democrat and her services will be greatly misses. Mrs. Rogers is survived by her husband and daughter. The funeral was held from the home Sunday afternoon, Rev. John W. Warren pastor of Pulaski M. E. church, officiating. The body was placed in the chapel at Pulaski cemetery until such time as interment can be made in the family plot in Willis cemetery. Neighbors of the deceased acted as bearers, James Farmer, Frank Jones, Milo Jones and A. W. Jones.

    Newspaper Article - Wednesday, November 3, 1926 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Elisha Burr's Life Story - By his brother, Aaron N. Burr - Elisha Burr Jr.was born in Ellisville, town of Ellisburg, Jefferson county New York, January 15, 1841. In the spring of 1842 the family moved to the eastern part of the town of Sandy Creek right into the woods, got some help and built a log house, moved in before it was finished. Being 3 or 4 years old I remember they built a large fire place and chimney of logs and stone. Lived there one year then moved into the town of Ellisburg where Adelbert H Burr was born January 5, 1844, then moved back to the log house, cleared up some of the land. In 1857 moved to the town of Richland, Oswego county, New York. Settled on a dairy farm some four miles south of Pulaski. August 1862 three Burr brothers enlisted in the 14th. New York Volunteers for 3 years during the war. Joseph W. Burr was killed at the battle of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Aaron N. Burr was wounded in the hand at the battle of Spotsylvania, Virginia, was sent to the hospital in Washington, D. C, was appointed corporal of the guard and was kept there till his time was out, May 12, 1865. Saw Mr. Lincoln several times, went through the White House and shook hands with him, saw the funeral procession pass up Pennsylvania Avenue, went through the capitol and saw his remains as they lay in state there. Ehsha Burr Jr., died in Pulaski, October 13, 1926. Adelbert H. Burr died in Pulaski, May 11, 1926.

    Newspaper Obituary - Thursday Evening, May 10, 1917 Oswego Daily Times - Oswego, New York - Pulaski, May 10 - The death of Mrs. Elisha L. Burr occurred yesterday afternoon, following a stroke of paralysis three months ago. Her maiden name was Caroline Jones. She was born March 14, 1843, on a farm on the Mexico road and where practically her entire life had been passed. Besides her husband she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. D. P. Rogers, and a brother, George E. Jones. Private funeral services will be held at the family home at 2 p.m. Saturday, conducted by the Rev. Charles T. Holcombe, pastor of the First M. E. church of the village. Burial will be made in the Willis cemetery.

    Newspaper Article - Thursday, September 4, 1884 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - A Pleasant Party - A happy family reunion occurred at the residence of Mrs. Charlotte Burr in this village on the afternoon of August 26th, the occasion being her eighty-fifth birthday. There were about forty present, including eight children, eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. There were numerous presents among the rest a handsome easy chair, a present from her near neighbors. The party broke up wishing her many more birthday anniversaries.

    Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, July 24, 1890 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Pulaski - Died - In Pulaski, at the residence of her son, A. N. Burr, July 21, 1890, Charlotte, relict of Elisha Burr, deceased, aged 91 years. This aged lade whose name was Nash, was born in Brattleboro, Vermont. In 1806, when seven years of age, she removed with her parents to Ellisburg. The family came with an ox team, and took two weeks to make the journey. There she was married and resided until her nine children were born. Afterwards she lived in Sandy Creek, and for 33 years in this town, 20 years of the time in Pulaski. Eight of her children survive her. They are John Burr, Daysville; Mrs. Hannah Lloyd, Pulaski; Mrs. Abbie Woodruff, Ellisburg; Mrs. Harriet Dubois, Mrs. Jerusha Jones, A. N. Burr, E. L. Burr, A. H. Burr, all of Pulaski. One, J. W. Burr, was killed at Gettysburg. The funeral was held at the house yesterday, Tuesday, the four sons surviving, acting as bearers. Rev. A. Bramley conducted the services. Interment took place at Willis cemetery. This aged lady was greatly beloved by all who knew her.

Burr, near this village, June 2_th, 1891, Betsy, wife of Erastus C. Jones, deceased, aged 73 years. Mrs. Jones was born in Rensselaer County, New York, but came to this county when an infant only four weeks old. She had lived on the farm where she died for _ years. She has one son surviving, George Jones, of this village.
