    Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, July 13, 1910 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Daysville - Died, July 1, 1910, Mrs. Mary Calkins, widow of Asahel B. Calkins and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Moore, aged 81 years. Mrs. Calkins came to this place from Saratoga County when but two years of age, and the remainder of her long life has been spent in this immediate vicinity. Since the death of her husband she has made her home with her son Fred and wife, who gave her unremitting care and attention during a long and painful illness which was patiently and uncomplainingly borne. Besides the son above mentioned she leaves two others, Frank and Don A. Calkins of Mexico and one daughter Mrs. A. Hollenbeck of Pulaski. The funeral was held from the home on July 3rd. The many beautiful floral tributes bearing mute testimony to the esteem in which she was held. The funeral sermon was delivered by Rev. P. O. Wilcox, who spoke words of comfort and cheer to the bereaved family. The interment was made in the South Richland cemetery.

    Last Will and Testament - I Asahel Calkins of the Town of Richland in the County of Oswego considering the uncertainty of the mortal life and being of sound and perfect mind and memory; blessed be Mighty God for the same do make and publish this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following: That is to say: First: I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Asenath Calkins one hundred dollars each and every year during her natural life to be used by her for her support and comfort, and more if she should need it. Also I give her all the household furniture, this furniture and the one hundred dollars as above stated which my wife is to have yearly is given to her in consideration of her right of dower. To Albert M. Calkins my eldest son I give and bequeath fifty dollars to make him equal with his other two brothers, Asahel B. and Daniel. I give and bequeath to my second daughter Martha J. Calkins fifty Dollars. I also give and bequeath to my third daughter Elizabeth Calkins seventy-five dollars, this will make Martha and Elizabeth equal with what I have given Susan Calkins their eldest sister. I also give and bequeath twenty-five dollars to purchase grave stones to Charles W. Calkins grave now deceased, my second son. I also give and bequeath to his two daughters Eva Evangeline and Adelia Maria twenty dollars each. The above sum forty dollars which I have given to Charles W. Calkins two girls is not to be paid until final settlement is made with all my heirs. There is shall be paid over to Albert M. Calkins for the safe keeping of the _ _ he may put it on interest if he thinks best. If they should die before they come of age then the said forty dollars shall be divided equally amongst my several heirs, But if they should live until they become of age then the said Albert M. Calkins shall pay over the above amount to said heirs together with interest if there shall be any interest. As respecting the personal property and the real estate, I would devise to sell the personal property as as it can be sold to advantage and the farm too. If the farm can not be disposed of to advantage then my advice would be to rent it to some good man until it can be sold. And I hereby authorize and direct my Executor to sell and convey ,my real estate when in their judgment it is for the best. After the above amount of money is reckoned or taken out of my estate which I have given to Albert M. Calkins and Charles W. Calkins and his heirs and what I have given to Asenath Calkins my wife also what I have given to Martha and Elizabeth shall be taken out of my estate, Thence in the remainder of my real and personal estate, goods and chattels of what _ and value ever shall be between my heirs in the following proportion: My male heirs, Albert, Asahel B. and Daniel shall have eight dollars while my female heirs Susan, Martha and Elizabeth shall have seven dollars and in that manner shall my property be _ where the farm and personal property is sold. Out of Daniel H. Calkins share or portion which I have given him I _ out to pay a note that I have signed with him to Jess W. Calkins. The note was dated June 2nd, 1860. I believe that the note was about $56: There and the interest when paid I want to be taken out of Daniels portion that he is to have I have wiliest to him. I do nominate and appoint my beloved wife Asenath and my eldest son Albert to be my executors or administrators of this my Last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal and publish and declare this to be my Last Will and Testament in the presence of the witnesses named below this seventh day of October in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight hundred and Sixty-one. {signed} Asahel Calkins.

    Probate - Oswego County Surrogate's Court. In the Matter of the Administration of the Goods, Chattels and Credits of Asenath Calkins, deceased. To The Surrogate Of Oswego County: The Petition of Albert M. Calkins of the Town of Richland in said County, respectfully showeth, That he is the Eldest son of Asenath Calkins, late of the Town of Richland in said County, deceased: That the said Asenath Calkins died a natural death, and died intestate, as your petitioner verily believes; That your petitioner has made diligent search and inquiry for a Will of the said deceased, and has not found any, or obtained any information that she ever left or made one; That your petitioner has to the best of his ability estimated and ascertained the value of the personal property of which said deceased died possessed, and that the same does not exceed in value the sum of $100; That the said intestate left kindred entitled to her estate, whose names and places of residence are as follows: Your petitioner, Susan Price, Asahel B. Calkins, Eva Calkins, Addie Calkins, _ residing in the Town of Richland, Oswego County, New York; Estelle On, Carrie On & Albert On residing in the Town of Parish, County of Oswego, New York; Edette Calkins, Carlton Calkins, residing in the Town of [left blank] of the County of [left blank] New York; Martha Towsley who resides in Port Washington, Wisconsin, all of who are of full age, except Eva Calkins, Addie Calkins, Estelle On, Carlton On & Albert On, _ who are minors having no general guardians.     Oswego County, I, Bragton Slater an Appraiser, duly appointed by the Surrogate of said county, do swear and declare that I will truly, honestly, and impartially appraise the personal property of Asenath Calkins late of the town of Richland in the county aforesaid, deceased, which shall be for that purpose exhibited to me, to the best of my knowledge and ability. {signed} Bragton Slater.     Inventory: A true and perfect inventory of the Goods, Chattels and Credits which were of Ascenath Calkins late of the town of Richland in the County of Oswego, deceased, made by Albert M. Calkins administrator of the estate of the said deceased, with the aid and in the presence of Robert Gillespie & Brayton Slater they having been duly appointed and sworn or affirmed as Appraisers; containing a full, just and true statement of all the personal property of the said deceased which has come to the knowledge of the said Administrator of said estate, and particularly of all money, bank bills and other circulating medium belonging to said deceased, and all just claims of the said deceased against said Albert M. Calkins specifying the name of the debtor in each security, the sum originally payable, the endorsements thereon, with their dates, and the sum which, in the judgment of the appraisers, may be collectable on each security. Upon the completion of this inventory, duplicates thereof have been made, and signed at the end thereof by the appraisers.
    I, Albert M. Calkins of Richland, Oswego, New York, Executor of the Estate of Asenath Calkins, late of the town of Richland, aforesaid deceased, do swear that the annexed inventory is in all respects just and true. That it contains a true statement of all the personal property of the said deceased which has come to my knowledge, and particularly of all money, bank bills and all other circulating medium belonging to the said deceased, and of all just claims of the deceased against all persons according to the best of my knowledge. {signed} Albert M.     Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, May 11, 1882 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Mrs. Elizabeth Moore, wife of the late David Moore, died Monday, May 8th, after a lingering illness. Deceased was born January 16th, 1800, and has been a resident of this town since 1835. She was an earnest and devote Christian lade, and her death will be regretted by a large circle of friends, besides the members of her family The funeral was held this morning at 10 o'clock from the residence of her son, Mr. Seneca D. Moore, Rev. George P. Kenney, officiating.
