    Newspaper Obituary - Tuesday. March 12, 2002 Watertown Daily Times - Watertown, New York - John I. Cone Sr., Retired Electrical Worker - John I. Cone Sr., 65, of 8 Church Street, died Sunday in Oswego Hospital. Mr. Cone was a utility line clearance worker for International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1249, Syracuse, retiring in 1988. He was a member of Pulaski Seventh-day Adventist Church. Born January 6, 1937, at Fernwood, son of Earl and Ida Mae White Cone, he attended Pulaski schools and served for four years in the Marine Corps. A marriage to Pearl Loretta Rowe ended in divorce. He married Nancy A. Nestor on October 22, 1971, at Skaneateles. She died July 4, 2000. Surviving are three sons and a daughter-in-law, John I. Jr., Orwell, Joseph and Erica, Pulaski, and Sean, Montezuma; three daughters and their husbands, Sherry and Tracy Birdslow, Sandy Creek, Linda and Derek Theiser, Riverside, California, and Laurie and Steve Phouts, Leesburg, Florida; a step-son, Ronald Ely, Bushnell, Florida; four sisters, Shirley Almedia, Mattydale, Beverly Flaherty, Williamstown, Sandra Clemons, Mapleview, and Betty Blodgett, Orwell; his companion, Coralie Scott, Pulaski; 13 grandchildren, a great-grandchild and several nieces. nephews and cousins. Two stepsons died before him, David Ely in 1980 and James Ely in 1988. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Summerville Funeral Home, Sandy Creek, with Mr. Cone's nephew, the Rev. Donald Clemons Jr., officiating. Spring burial will be in Pulaski Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

    John I. Cone Sr., 65, of 8 Church St., Pulaski, died Sunday. Born in Fernwood, he attended Pulaski High School. He was a utility line clearance worker and a member of Local 1249 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in Syracuse. He was a member of Pulaski Seventh Day Adventist Church. He was a Marine Corps veteran. His wife, the former Nancy Nestor, died in 2000; two stepsons also died previously, David Ely in 1980 and James Ely in 1988.

    Pearl L. Cone, 77 of Mexico died Monday at the Oswego Hospital. She was a bus driver for Oswego County BOCES. She is predeceased by one daughter, Laura A. Pfouts, in 2009.

    Surviving are two daughters, Linda Theiser of Riverside, California and Julia R. Cone of Parish; two sons, John J. Cone Jr. of Richland and Jeremy J. Cone of Palermo; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Thomas Skilinskis of Maple View and Lewis Skilinskis of Mexico; two sisters, Cathy Hedden of Brooksville, Florida and Joetta Ragland of Coronado Bay, California.

    Funeral services are 1 p.m., Thursday from the Harter Funeral Home, 9 Washington Avenue, Mexico NY. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Funeral Home prior to the service.

    Joe Skilinski, 79, of North St., Mexico, died Wednesday in University Hospital in Syracuse following an illness of one month. Mr. Skilinski was born in Lithuania and came to this country as a child. He has resided in Mexico for the past 60 years and was a retired farmer, Surviving are eight daughters, Mrs. Rose Locke, Mrs. Irene Ger, Mrs. Annabelle Scutier, all of Syracuse; Mrs. Helen Sutherland of Phoenix; Mrs. Kenyon of Niagara Palls; Mrs. Pearl Cone and Mrs. Ethel Burdick, bath, of Mexico; Mrs. Joetta McCarthy of Massena; five sons, John of Phoenix, Earl, Lewis, Joseph and Thomas all of Mexic. Funeral services were conducted from the home of his son, Earl Skilinski, Mexico on Saturday, Rev. Aldrich, pastor of the Baptist Church officiating.

    Mrs. Lillian Winks Skilinski, 39 year old mother of nine children, wife of Joseph Skilinski, died Sunday at her home five miles south of Mexico in the town Of Mexico, after a brief illness. She was born in the town of Palermo, the daughter of Joseph and Ametta Pelow Winks. Besides her husband she is survived by three sons, John, Earl and Lewis Skilinski; six daughters, Mrs. Edward MacMann of Baldwinsville, Miss Irene Skilinski of Fulton, and the Misses Helen, Mary, Annabelle, and Ethel Marie Skilinski, who lived at home; a brother, Lewis Winks of West Monroe; four sisters, Mrs. Bertha Miner of Fulton, Mrs. Retta Saunders of cato, Mrs. Elmer Morrison of Harrisville and Miss Rose Winks of South Scriba. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the home, the Rev. Harold H. Barnard, pastor of the Mexico First Methodist Episcopal church, officiating. Burial was in Roosevelt cemetery.
