    Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, October 27, 1897 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Port Ontario - Mr. J. Caldwell, an aged gentleman, died from the effects of a shock Thursday, the 21st, at the home of his son-in-law, James Corbett. The funeral was held at the house Saturday forenoon, services conducted by Rev. Demott, of West Sandy Creek; burial at Ellis village.

    Hamilton Colwell died at the home of his daughter Mrs. James Corbit near Pulaski, Wednesday, October 20, 1897. He was born in Ireland in 1831 and came to this country in 1883. He settled near the lake where his son Thomas now resides. He was an industrious, hard working man and had gained thereby considerable property. His wife died three years ago, leaving a family of eleven children and her husband behind. One daughter died last February. The other ten remain to mourn the loss of both father and mother.

    Mr. Colwell will be missed by his family as their counselor and wise advisor and also by the community in which he lived as a good neighbor. His funeral was largely attended from the Goodnough church Saturday, conducted by the pastor, Rev. George Dermott, who took for his text John 11:25. Interment was made in the Ellisburg Cemetery.

    Hamilton married Susan Stein on 31 Aug 1855 in Aghalurcher Parish, Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, Ireland. Susan (daughter of John Stein and Jane Johnston, daughter of John Kendrick Jones and Susan Jane Campbell) was born on 8 Feb 1836 in Farenanaugh, Ireland; died on 27 Sep 1894 in Ellisburg, Jefferson, New York, United States.     Mrs. Hamilton Colwell -
    Thursday morning, September 27, Mrs. Colwell, wife of Hamilton Colwell, departed this life, after an illness of about two weeks' duration, aged fifty-eight years.

    Mrs. Colwell, whose maiden name was Susanna Stein, was born in County Tyrone, Ireland. Coming to this country with her husband about twelve years ago, they first settled in the adjoining town of Ellisburg, where they lived until last year.

    Mrs. Colwell was of Protestant ancestry and became converted and connected with the Primitive Methodist church in early life. She has lived a consistent life, beloved by her family, respected by all who knew her. Eleven children, ten of whom are married, mourn the loss of this faithful mother.

    The funeral services were largely attended and were conducted by Rev. M. G. Seymour at her late home, the body being interred in the Ellisburg Cemetery.
