Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, March 14, 1894 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Died - In this village, March 8th, 1894, Marcia Isabel, daughter of Lyman B. Campbell and Laura Warner Campbell, and wife of Charles R. Maltby, aged 66 years, 3 months and 28 days. Mrs. Maltby was born in the town of Sandy Creek, November 10th, 1827. Upton, of Gifford, Iowa; Mrs. S. T. Doane, Mrs. C. D. Edwards, Mrs. F. B. Rickard, and Mrs. W. H. Austin, all of Pulaski. She suffered from rheumatism for more than forty years, and for nearly eighteen years was unable to walk. Yet she bore the slow, hard days and the longer, harder nights of torture, with a patience and sweetness that was wonderful, and that made her a comfort and blessing to all who knew her. She never lost an intense and helpful interest not only in her own family and large circle of friends, but in the great world outside, and only ceased personal effort, little by little, as she was forced to do so by the iron hand of her relentless disease. In early womanhood she united with the Congregational church of this village, and though all her life was earnestly and heartily, and, as far as possible, actively interested in every effort for the good of humanity, she has proved by her loving, unselfish life that a large measure, both of usefulness and happiness, is possible even for those who must dwell under the shadow of life-long suffering.
