    Probate - Last Will And Testament of Philo Manwarren, deceased. Be it remembered, that heretofore, to wit: on the 24th day of February 1887, Mary Manwarren, a legatee, widow, named in the Last Will and Testament of Philo Manwarren, late of the Town of Mexico in the County of Oswego, deceased, appeared in open Court, before the Surrogate of the County of Oswego, and made application to have the said Last Will and Testament which relates to both real estate and personal estate proved; and on such application the Surrogate did ascertain by satisfactory evidence who were the heirs at law and next of kin of the said testator, and their respective residences, and said Surrogate did thereupon issue a Citation in due form of law, directed to the heirs at law and next of kin, by their respective names, stating their respective places of residence requiring them to appear before said Surrogate at Honorable F. W. Skinner's office in the Village of Mexico in the said county, on the 22nd day of April 1887 to attend the Probate of said will. And afterwards, to wit: on the 22nd day of April 1887 satisfactory evidence by affidavit, was produced and presented to said Surrogate, of the due service of said Citation in the mode prescribed by law; and on that day no one appearing to oppose the Probate of said Will hereinafter set forth, upon this 22nd day of April 1887, and he thereupon adjudged the said Will to be a valid Will of Real and Personal Estate, and the proofs thereof to be sufficient, which said Last Will and Testament and proofs are as follows, that is to say: In the name of God, Amen, I, Philo Manwarren, of the Town of Mexico, County of Oswego and State of New York, being of sound mind and memory and therefore make, ordain, publish and declare this to be my Last Will and Testament, that is to say: First, after all my lawful debts are paid and discharged, I give and bequeath unto my wife, Mary, all my estate both real and personal for her own use and benefit for and unlimited disposal during the period and term of her natural life. Second, After the death of my said wife Mary, I give and bequeath to my two sisters, Sarah C. Clapsaddle and Joanna O. Tollerton, $250 each. If Joanna O. Tollerton should not be living at the demise of my said wife Mary, the $250 is to go to her daughter, Estella Tollerton. Third, I give and bequeath to Oliver N. Combs and James H. Combs $400 to be divided equally between them, share and share alike, being sons of Warren K. and Jane Combs, after the death of my said wife. Fourth, The remainder of my estate I give and bequeath to my nephew, Ira Manwarren, son of Norman B. Manwarren, to have and to hold to him and his heirs forever. If the said Ira Manwarren wishes to keep the farm, he can do so by paying off the heirs or assigns above named in installments one _ a year until they are all paid, paying the oldest first, with yearly interest on all unpaid after the demise of my said wife. I do also hereby authorize and empower my executor and my said wife to sell and convey any or all of my real estate at any time they may desire to, and to mortgage the same, grant, _ or otherwise change the same for her benefit, and with the same force and effect as I might do if living. I also charge my estate for the erection of a monument for myself and wife at my cemetery lot at Sand Hill Cemetery to the amount of $150, provided I or my wife should not do it in our lifetime. Likewise I make, constitute and appoint my wife, Mary Manwarren as executrix and Edwin Midlan to be executor of this my Last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me made. In witness whereof, I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal the 31S' day of May in the year of our Lord 1884. {signed} Philo Manwarren.
    Surrogate's Court - In the matter of proving the Last Will and Testament of Philo Manwarren, deceased, late of the Town of Mexico, Oswego County, New York. Edwin Midlan and Esther Midlan, being first duly sworn in open Court, upon their several corporeal oaths, each for himself; doth depose and say that they are subscribing witnesses to the last Will and Testament of Philo Manwarren, late of the Town of Mexico in the County of Oswego, and State of New York, deceased. And these deponents do further say that the said Philo Manwarren, deceased, did in the presence of each of these deponents, subscribe his name at the end of the instrument in writing, which is now here shown to these deponents, and which purports to the last Will and Testament of the said deceased, and which bears the date on the 31st of May 1884. That the said deceased did at the time of subscribing his name to the said instrument as aforesaid, declare the same to be his last Will and Testament; and these deponents did thereupon subscribe their own respective names at the end of said instrument, as attesting witnesses to the execution thereof; each at the request of the said deceased, and in his presence and in the presence of each other; That the said deceased, at the time of so subscribing his name to said instrument as aforesaid, and publishing said instrument as aforesaid, was upwards of 21 years of age, and a citizen of the United States; That he appeared to be and deponents believe he was of sound mind, memory and understanding, and not under any restraint, and as deponents verily believe, in all respects competent to devise real estate; That each of these deponents saw the other sign their name to said instrument in the presence of the deceased. {signed} Edwin Midlan; {signed} Esther Midlan.     Newspaper Obituary - September 1906 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Daysville District - The death of Mrs. Mary Niles Manwarren, which occurred on Sunday September 16, 1906, takes from us one of the oldest and most highly respected inhabitants of our place. Mrs. Manwarren was 85 years of age and had been able to do house work for herself and her brother, Henry Niles, with whom she lived until about six weeks ago. She was the widow of Philo Manwarren who died in 1886. Their only daughter died many years previous to that.
