Son of Jehiel and Lydia Hoyt Weed. Husband of Betsey Benedict Weed (married in 1779 at Wilton, Fairfield County, Connecticut) & Sarah Stebbins Weed (married February 1, 1781 at South Salem. Westchester County, New York.) [Note: Betsey Benedict. a daughter of John and Mary (Benedict) Benedict, died shortly after her marriage to Jehiel Weed, date and place of her death is unknown, place of burial is unknown.] [Notes: Sarah Stebbins, a daughter of Nehemiah and Sarah St. John Stebbins. died July 6, 1843 in Richland Township, New York. Family tradition is that Jehiel and Sarah are buried on their farm on Springbrook Road in an unmarked grave.

    Vital records for this family are from the Barbor Collection, Volume 1, page 41. Jehiel's death is recorded in his son Jehiel's family bible, copy at Half-Shire.
    Jehiel Weed Sr. was a minuteman of Suffolk County, New York during the Revolution. He served in Captain Selah Strong's 7th Company of the 1st New York Regiment.

    The Weeds moved to Rupert, Vermont prior to the 1790 census.
