    • Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, March 10, 1921 Journal and Republican and Lowville Times - East Martinsburg - Community Shocked by Death of Mrs. Fidelia Palmer Austin After Only Two Days' Illness - An Ideal Wife, Mother and Friend. - (W. E. Gaynor, Correspondent.) - Thursday, March 3, this community was shocked to hear the passing away of Mrs. Fidelia Palmer Austin, wife of Augustus Austin, after only two days' illness. The deceased was the daughter of the late Shubel and Amanda Palmer and was born in Canada, June 30, 1860, coming to live here when a small child. March 11, 1877, she was united in marriage with Augustus Austin, and to this union were born six children. The most of her life was spent near her late home, where she had many true and loyal friends, because to know her was to love her. Her home was ever open and her hospitality royal. She was one of earth's few who apparently knew no trouble, as she always lived on the sunny side of life and greeted all with her bright and happy smile and cheering words. She was an ideal wife and mother, her supreme joy being in her home and family to whom she was ever a watchful guardian. We must not think of her as connected with the past, but simply as one gone on a journey to a new home, and if we, like her, but live for Him, we too soon shall hear, His summons and go to join her in a new city. The deceased is survived by her husband, four daughters, and two sons, Mrs. Edwin Baldwin, of Watson; Mrs. Edward Brown, Misses Ethel and Maudie Austin, Earl and Leon Austin, of this place. Brief services were held from her late home Sunday afternoon, followed by a service at the Watson church. Rev. George Walker, officiating; interment at Beach's Bridge. The floral tributes were beautiful and the entire community join in extending their sincere sympathy to the bereaved ones. Those from out of town to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Cratsenburg, of Chemung; Mr. and Mrs. Morris Genzel and daughter Ida and Peter Burr, of Watertown; V. F. Peebles, of Port Leyden; Leon Miller, of Beaver Falls.
