Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, August 22, 1968 Sandy Creek News - Sandy Creek, New York - Michael Aldrich Dies in Flaming Car Wreckage - Michael John Aldrich, 20, of Orwell, a 1967 graduate of Sandy Creek Central school, was pronounced dead at the scene after the car he was driving on Route 104 in the Town of New Haven early Sunday morning struck a tree and burst into flames. Attempts by sheriff's deputies and the New Haven Volunteer fireman to free him from the flaming car were futile. Deputy Sheriff Ora Lawton said that as the car approached the crest of a hill it went into a skid, the driver losing control. It then struck a culvert and continued on for 40 feet when the rear of the car struck a tree, rupturing the gas tank, which burst into flames. - 1967 SCCS Grad - The youth was born November 17, 1947 in Syracuse, son of Sylvester and Alma Salisbury Aldrich. He was a 1967 graduate of Sandy Creek Central school and was employed at the General Electric Company in Syracuse until two months ago, when he began work at the Lee Schoeller plant in Pulaski. Aldrich of Orwell; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Salisbury of Port Ontario, and several cousins. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon from the Foster funeral home in Pulaski.
