Military Service: Veteran of the Civil War; Enlisted August 6, 1862 at Orwell, New York, for a term of three years; Bounty of $50 paid by Oswego County, New York; Mustered in August 25, 1862 as a Private in Company C, 110th Regiment New York State Infantry; Mustered out August 28, 1865 with Company at Albany, New York, with rank of Private. Son of Ezra Fairchild and Huldah D. Bonner Stevens. Husband of Aurelia R. Denniston Stevens. Married January 1, 1866 in Oswego County, New York. [Note: Albert’s name on his tombstone appears as “Edd. Stevens”.]
      Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, July 30, 1925 Sandy Creek News - Sandy Creek, New York - Allen E. Stevens [sic] - Allen E. Stevens, 82, a native of Oswego county, died Tuesday night at Ideal Rest General Hospital, Orwell, where he had been a patient since Saturday. Mr. Stevens served in the Civil War and for many years was a member of Olmstead Post Grand Army of the Republic, which some time ago surrendered its charter. He was born January 24, 1843, in the town of Orwell, where he had passed nearly all his life. For many years he was engaged in farming. Surviving are his wife, two sons, Giles Stevens, Orwell, and Robert Stevens, Detroit, Michigan, and two daughters, Mrs. L. H. Finster, Pulaski, and Mrs. Jay Bronner, Syracuse. Rev. Thomas T. Davies of Sandy Creek, pastor of the Congregational church, that village, will conduct the funeral services, at 2 o'clock, Friday afternoon at the family home, Orwell. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery, Orwell.
      Newspaper Obituary - (date and newspaper unavailable) - Albert E. Stevens - Orwell, August 6 - Albert Edward Stevens, who had been ill for some time, died Tuesday, July 28, aged 82 years and 6 months. Nearly all his life has been spent in this town, where he was born. At the age of 18 years, he enlisted August 2, 1862, for service and the Civil War and was mustered in as a private in Company C. He was mustered out with the company, August 25, 1865. Mr. Stevens is survived by his wife, two sons, Giles Stevens, of Orwell, Robert Stevens, of Detroit, Michigan, and two daughters, Mrs. L. H. Finster, of Pulaski, and Mrs. J. H. Bronner, of Syracuse. The funeral services were held Friday afternoon, at his late home, by Rev. T. T. Davies, of Sandy Creek. Burial made in Evergreen cemetery.
