    • Newspaper Obituary - February 10, 1926 Pulaski Democrat - Sedgwick Howlett Killed By Cars - Sauquoit. Feb. 5 - Sedgwick Howlett, 62, night watchman at the Clayville Foundry & Machine Company, was instantly killed when he was struck by a D. L. & W. train early Friday morning while walking along the tracks toward this village on his way home from work. Mr. Howlett was born at Sandy Creek and had been a resident of this village for the last 23 years. He had been employed as night watchman at the Sauquoit Knitting Company for 17 years and had been engaged in a like capactiy by the Clayton Foundry for four years. He married Ina Miller of Uitca in 1891. Besides his wife, he leaves eleven children: Frank, Utica; William, Pulaski; Mrs. Mildred Smith, Clayville; Carl, Ruth, Arthur, Erma, Albert, Russell, Francis and Mary, Sauquoit; two brothers, Harley and Charles, Pulaski. The funeral was held from the home Monday at 2:30 p.m. with interment in Sauquoit Valley cemetery. Mr. Howlett's son and two brothers went to the funeral. Deceased once lived in Pulaski and was employed by Charles Tollner at the Tollner Box Factory.

      Newspaper Obituary - February 11, 1926 Sandy Creek News - Son Of Sandy Creek Killed - Sedgwick Howlett Struck By D. L. & W. Train at Sauquoit -Sedgwick Howlett, 62, night watchman at the Clayville Foundry & Machine Company, was instantly killed when he was struck by a D. L. & W. train early Friday morning while walking along the tracks toward this village on his way home from work. Dr. A. P. Clark, New Hartford, was summoned and he called Dr. O. W. Burhyte. Examining the body they found a fractured skull, fracture of the right leg, two fracutres of the left leg and a broken arm. The train was in charge of Conductor Edward George, who stopped the engine and brought the remains to Sauquoit. James Kite, of Utica, was the engineer. Dr. Clark held an inquest Sunday. Mr. Howlett was born at Sandy Creek and had been a resident of Sauquoit for the last 23 years. He had been employed as night watchman at the Sauquoit Knitting Company for 17 years and had been engaged in a like capacity by the Clayville Foundry for four years. He married Ina Miller in 1891.
