    • Richard graduated from Pulaski Schools and enlisted in the US Navy. He was stationed out of Jacksonville Beach while aboard the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt. he served 20 years. Upon leaving the service, Tilkins moved home and began work for New Process Gear Chrysler plant in Syracuse, He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union and the Pulaski American Legion. He graduated from Pulaski Schools and enlisted in the US Navy. He was stationed out of Jacksonville Beach while aboard the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt. he served 20 years. Upon leaving the service, Tilkins moved home and began work for New Process Gear Chrysler plant in Syracuse, He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union and the Pulaski American Legion. He graduated from Pulaski Schools and enlisted in the US Navy. He was stationed out of Jacksonville Beach while aboard the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt. he served 20 years.       Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, April 20, 1988 Watertown Daily Times (NY) - Richard Tilkins Dies At 53 In City Hospital - Richard E. Tilkins, 53, Stewart Street, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, was pronounced dead on arrival Monday afternoon at Mercy Hospital, Watertown, after being stricken at his home. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski, with Rev. Kenneth Spurlock, pastor of the Richland Church of Christ, officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Richland Cemetery. Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Surviving are three sons, Richard Jr., Rodney and William, all of Richland; a daughter, Karen, Camden; a granddaughter; three brothers, Robert, Farber, Pa., Ronald, Baltimore, Md., and John, Clay; three sisters, Norma Wilson, Bonita Salisbury and Eileen Skotnicki, all of Pulaski; and several nieces and nephews. A brother, Donald, and two sisters, Mary Bielewicz and Dorothy Tilkins, died previously. Born in Richland June 6, 1934, a son of Louis and Florence Brown Tilkins, he attended Richland schools and was a graduate of Pulaski Academy and Central School. Mr. Tilkins served with the Navy for 20 years, retiring in 1974. A marriage to Nancy Lloyd of Pulaski on Sept. 12, 1961 later ended in divorce. He was employed the last four years as an assembler by the New Process Gear Co., Syracuse. Mr. Tilkins was a member of Robert Edwards Post 358, American Legion, Pulaski, and United Auto Workers Union Local 624, Syracuse.
