    • Louisa Harrington Walker Balcom (May 29, 1938-January 27, 2014). Louis was a well known lady in Pulaski. Born in Johnsburgh, NY she was 1st married to Arnold Walker a long-time druggist in Pulaski. Arnold died in 1994. In her later years she was married to Pratt Balcom, and together they were strong members of the Park Methodist Church. Louisa is survived by three sons, 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

      Louisa Joyce Walker Balcom, age 75, resident of Pulaski passed away Monday, surrounded by her loving family, at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse. Louisa was born May 29, 1938 in Johnsburgh, NY the daughter of James and Eva Russell Harrington. Louisa resided in Chestertown, Adams and Malone, NY before moving to Pulaski in 1972. She married Arnold A. Walker on March 29, 1959, and he passed away on October 27, 1994. She later married Pratt A. Balcom on November 26, 2006. Through the years, Louisa worked in child care, and was employed by the Pulaski Day Care Center for ten years, retiring in 2006. She was a member of the Park United Methodist Church in Pulaski. Surviving are her husband, Pratt Balcom of Pulaski; three sons, Douglas (Melissa) Walker of Oswego, Bruce (Rose) Walker of Sandy Creek and Tim Walker of Clyde; a stepson, Andrew Balcom of Tioga, PA, 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, Guy (Fran) Harrington of Port Jefferson Station, NY; two sisters, Alvira (Michael) McGarr of South Glens Falls, and Sharon (Frederick) Walden of Glens Falls; a stepbrother, Gary; and two stepsisters, Golda and Gloria; and an abundance of nieces, nephews and cousins. Louisa was predeceased by her parents; a brother, George "Sonny" Harrington; a sister, Sandra Patton; stepfather, Henry Millington; and an infant son, Brian, who died in 1960. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, January 31, 2014, at the Park United Methodist Church, 2 Hubble Street, Pulaski, with a spring burial in Pulaski Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park Street, Pulaski.
