    • DEFERIET- Paul Anthony Ventiquattro, 84, of 45 Wilna Ave., died at home on Monday, February 27, 2012 under the care of his family and Hospice of Jefferson County.

      He was born on August 30, 1927 at home in Deferiet to Dominic and Vincenza (Josie) Piroli. He attended schools in Deferiet and Carthage and served in the United States Army from 1945-1947. He married Ruth Cook on January 16, 1953 in Carthage. Paul worked as a Superintendent for the Super Calendar Machine; he retired from the St. Regis Paper Co. after 44 years of dedicated service.

      He was a member of the St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Deferiet, the Deferiet Senior Citizens and the Bassett-Baxter American Legion Post #789, Carthage. He loved spending time with his family and he enjoyed playing golf.

      He is survived by his wife, Ruth and five daughters; LouAnn Earle, Carthage; Kathy Ann Ventiquattro, Carthage; Tina Ventiquattro-Allen and her husband Michael, Pennsylvania; Sheila Ventiquattro-Clark and her husband David, Oneida and Patti Ventiquattro-Pinkham, Indiana. Also surviving are two sisters; Loretta Ellis, Orlando, Florida and Anna Marconi, Waterloo, 8 grandchildren; Mrs. Zachary (Torri) Chapman, Massena; Maria Earle, Burlington, Vermont; Justina Allen-Yurechko and her husband Andy, Rochester; Bryant P. & Connor J. Clark, Oneida; Matthew S., Robert A. and Paul A. Pinkham, Indiana; 3-great-grandchildren; Terry E. & Joshua Chapman, Michael Allen-Yurechko, a very special nephew, Kirk A. Ventiquattro, Deferiet and several nieces and nephews.

      He is predeceased by two brothers; Thomas and Alfred Ventiquattro.

      A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at 12:00 PM at St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Deferiet with The Rev. Garvin J. Demarais, Pastor, officiating. There will be no public calling hours or burial. Arrangements are being handled by the Scherer Funeral Home, located at the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage.
