Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, August 27, 1975 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Former local resident dies - Raymond Charles Aaserud, 24, of 114 Maple Drive, Skaneateles Falls, died Monday, August 18, at Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse. He was a resident of Pulaski most of his life. He was born in Watertown July 9, 1951. He was employed as a machine operator at Porter and Spencer, Skaneateles Falls. Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Aaserud, of Pulaski; five brothers, Carl F. of Auburn; Richard A. of Florida; Robert A. of Phoenix; William J. of Richland; Kenneth J. with the United States Navy at San Francisco, California; four sisters, Margaret L. Reynolds of Richfield Springs; Elizabeth King of Las Vegas, Nevada; Shirley A. Aaserud of Skaneateles Falls; Claudia L. Aaserud, of Pulaski. He attended Sandy Creek School and was a member of St. Francis Church in Lacona. Services were held on Friday, August 22 at 9 a.m. at the Taylor-Vida Funeral Home, Sandy Creek and at 9:30 a.m. in the St. John's Catholic Church, Pulaski with Rev. Whalen officiating, assisted by Rev. David Aaserud of Niagara Falls. Burial will be in Pulaski Cemetery.
The Citizen Advertiser, Auburn, NY, 19 Aug 1975: "Raymond Aaserud dies; injured in accident. Raymond Charles Aaserud, 24, died Monday at Upstate Medical Center as the result of a motorcycle accident July 5 on Riester Road, Fleming. He did not regain consciousness after the accident in which he was not wearing a helmet. Surviving are his parents, Carl E. and Margaret Kenyon Aaserud of Pulaski; four sisters, Margaret L. Reynolds of Richfield Springs; Elizabeth I. King of Las Vegas, Nev.; Shirley [(Mikki)] Aaserud of Skaneateles Falls and Claudia L. Aaserud of Pulaski; five brothers, Carl of Auburn, Robert A. of Phoenix, William J. of Richland, Richard A. of Florida, Kenneth J. Aaserud in the Navy and stationed in San Francisco; several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 9 AM Friday at the Taylor-Vida Funeral Home, Pulaski, and at 9:30 AM in St. John's Church. Burial will be in Pulaski. Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 PM Wednesday, and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Aaserud was a machine operator at the Porter and Spencer Textile Co., in Skaneateles Falls. He was Cayuga County's 13th traffic fatality so far this year, compared to nine at this time last year."
