Charles S. Minnick, 81, Dunn, N.C., formerly of Adams, died June 22 at home following a lengthy illness.

      Burial was in Dunn.

Surviving are his wife, Mae; a son, Charles S. Jr., Broken Arrow, Okla.; a daughter, Christina C. Plaatje, Truth or Consequences, N.M.; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Born Jan. 2, 1909, in the Town of Fowler, the son of Simmeon and Clara Hamilton Minnick, he was raised in the Gouverneur area and was graduated from Syracuse Business School. He married Eva Dickinson in the Adams Methodist parsonage April 16, 1929. She died Aug. 5, 1974.

He and his second wife, Mae, sold their property in 1987 and moved to North Carolina.

Mr. Minnick was a farmer in the Adams area most of his life, and a 25-year member of Adams Grange 391.

He served as highway superintendent for the Town of Adams until his retirement in December, 1973.

Prior to his retirement, he was an active member of Adams Village Baptist Church for many years. He was also a choir member there, as well as on the board of deacons and board of trustees. Mr. Minnick was also a member of the Adams Center Fire Department.

Charles married Eva May Dickinson, from Ellisburg, NY. They married in Adams Methodist parsonage. They had two children, Charles S. Minnick, Jr., and Christina Caroline Minnick. They were faithful members of the Adams Village Baptist Church in Adams for many years. Eva died in August of 1974 from cancer. She is buried in Honeyville Cemetery, Adams Center.

Charlie re-married to Pearl Mullin. Pearl, not being very well, also soon passed. Charlie married a third time; her name unknown to me.

When Charlie passed, he was buried somewhere in North Carolina by his 3rd wife.

The Social Security Death Index shows his death date was June 22, 1990; also has the spelling of his last name as Minnich; it shows his last place of residence was Dunn, Harnett County, North Carolina.
