    • TWO MEN KILLED IN TOWN OF WILLIAMSTOWN ACCIDENT
Watertown Daily Times (NY) - April 16, 1995Browse Issues
Two men were killed Friday night in a one-car accident on Route 17 in the town of Williamstown.

The driver, Wesley A. Pease Prahl, 19, of 7564 Main St., Richland, was heading south on Route 17 when he lost control of a 1995 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS on a curve, state police at Pulaski said.

Mr. Prahl's family had purchased the car on Thursday, police said.

The driver and front-seat passenger Christopher C. Britton, 20, Route 17, Williamstown, were pronounced dead at the scene by the Oswego County coroner, state police said. Troopers reported both men were wearing seat belts, and both air bags in the vehicle deployed.

The vehicle reportedly went off the east side of the road and slipped sideways. Its passenger-side door struck a tree.

A trooper blamed the side impact for the deaths, and pending autopsy results, police on Saturday were listing excessive speed as the cause of the accident.

Police said the victims were taken to A.L. Lee Memorial Hospital, Fulton.

State police and fire departments from Redfield and Williamstown responded to the accident.

The funeral for Mr. Prahl will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Harter Funeral Home, Parish. Calling hours will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Born June 7, 1975, in Syracuse, he graduated in 1993 from Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Central School.

The funeral for Mr. Britton will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski, with the Rev. Anthony Keeffe, pastor of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pulaski, officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Williamstown.

Calling hours will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
