Notes - This John has an extensive pension record at the National Archives. Was in Samuel Clyde's Reg't. placed on pension roll Oct 19, 1786 and again May 14, 1824, (according to descendant John Horton of Buffalo in 1926) He was wounded in the left hip at Johnstown, NY Oct 25, 1781. He was from Canajoharie district(page 184, NY in Revolution, page 523, Volume 1 "Archives of the state of NY-Revolutionary")
Statements were made that he was in Battle of Oriskany on Aug 6, 1777 under General Herkimer, Oct 1781 Johnstown Battle, under Col. Willett, Maj. Rowley, Maj. Coopman and Maj. Dygart. (against Mj. Ross) Pension S 26982 Served from 1775 onward--detailed account
