Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, July 3, 1929 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Alvin H. Edwards Dies at Sister’s Home - The death of Alvin H. Edwards occurred at the home of his sister, Mrs. Edith Rudes, Syracuse, Tuesday afternoon, June 25th, following an illness of several months. He was 53 years of age and was born in Morrisburg, Ontario, Canada, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. David Edwards. He came into this community with his parents when a child about 1 year old. Later he operated a farm for several years in the Meacham district about 2½ miles from Pulaski. It was about 15 years ago that he came to the village to make his home and entered the employ of Charles Tollner Sons Company. Mr. Edwards was forced to relinquish his position with the Tollner Company several weeks ago and go to Syracuse hospital for treatment, later going to the home of his sister in that city. He was a man of splendid character, possessing a quiet mien which had won for him the respect of all in the community and the admiration of a wide circle of friends who sincerely mourn his passing. He was a member of Pulaski Grange and an attendant of the Congregational church. Surviving are his wife and one daughter, Alma; three brothers, Charles D., and Archie of Pulaski, and Leonard of Syracuse; and three sisters, Mrs. Emerson Rudes, Syracuse; Mrs. Emily Malone, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Mrs. Gwendolyn Adsit of Utica. The funeral was held at the home in Lake street, Friday afternoon with the Rev. Lowell H. Palmer, pastor of the Congregational Church officiating. Interment in Pulaski cemetery. Relatives from out of town in attendance at the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Emerson Rudes and daughter, Beverly, and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Edwards, Syracuse; Mrs. Robert Hughes, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Mrs. Adsit and son, Samuel, Utica; Mrs. Marion Mattison, Rochester and Mrs. George Brown of Watertown.
