- Hornell, N.Y. — Donald L. Hoffman, 89, of 2439 County Road 109, passed away unexpectedly Friday (Jan. 13, 2012) at his home. Born in the Town of Almond, Oct. 17, 1922, the son of Oliver and Dora Allen Hoffman, he had resided in the Town of Howard for the past 56 years. Don operated a dairy farm on the Turnpike for more than 40 years and retired from Crowley’s Dairy in Arkport after 31 years of service. He was a member of the Hornell Bible Church, the Towlesville Grange, the NRA and was a member and past president of the Friends of Howard. He was predeceased by his parents; his daughter, Yvonne Hoffman; his sister, Marion Henshaw; and his brother, Maxwell Hoffman. He is survived by his wife, Frances Brooks Hoffman, whom he married Oct. 12, 1946; his daughter, Glenda (James) Lese of Savona; his sons, Donald (Debra) Hoffman, Jr. of West Almond and Florida, Wayne (Susan) Hoffman of Bath, and Keith Hoffman of Hornell; three sisters, Marie Margeson of Haskinville, Helen (Joe) Rider of Poughkeepsie, and Lisa (Nolan) Cluff of New Mexico; and 24 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. The family will be present to receive friends on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Troy Kahler officiating.
