    • Delia Eira White Soule - August 12, 1834 - September 29, 1918. Plot C-503. Daughter of Calvin E. and Apphia Stowell White. Wife of Percival Eugene Soule.
Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, October 9, 1918 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Delia Eira (White) Soule was born at Whipple Hill, Otsego County, New York, August 12, 1834 and entered into rest at Altmar, New York, September 29, 1918. She was the daughter of Calvin E. and Apphia (Stowell) White of Richland, New York, and granddaughter of William and Huldah (Valence) White of Hillsdale, Columbia County, New York, also granddaughter of Samuel and Hannah (Whiton) Stowell of Orwell, New York. The two grandfathers above mentioned were Revolutionary soldiers. About 1844 the family removed to Richland, Oswego County, where Delia E. White grew to womanhood, and she and her sisters, Loretto, Kate and Louisa became, in the decade beginning 1855, well known teachers in Oswego County. On September 30, 1867, she was married to Percival E. Soule at Richland. Four children were born of this union, Agnes and Alice, (who died in early life) Eugenia M. and Thomas P. Mrs. Soule was descended from a long line of Colonial and Revolutionary ancestors. From these she inherited those rare endowments of mind and heart which characterized her life and endeared her to her friends. Her mind was a veritable storehouse of knowledge, her memory remarkable retentive, her methods of thought clear and logic. Few could equal her in conversation. She composed with ease and rapidity; and at the Stowell reunion, August 12, 1914 her 80th birthday, she recited "Two Pictures'' a poem of eighty-eight lines, written by her for that occasion. She was a devoted wife and mother, a kind neighbor, a faithful friend and ah humble and consistent Christian. She is survived by her husband, Percival E. Soule, one daughter, Miss Eugenia M. Soule, of Altmar, and one son, Thomas P. Soule of Watertown; also an adopted sister, Mrs. Nellie Sprague of Sandy Creek. Funeral services were held at the M. E. church, Altmar, October 2, 1918 and burial at Pulaski cemetery.
