      Newspaper Obituary - (Source Unknown) - Rose Stewart Expires at 64 - Mrs. Rose S. Stewart, 64, formerly of Adams, widow of George Stewart, died Friday, May 18, in Mercy Hospital, Watertown. Mrs. Stewart, who had been afflicted with rheumatoid arthritis since 1965, had been at Mercy Hospital's Madonna Home for 20 years. The funeral was Tuesday at the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home with Rev. Deborah O'Connor-Slater, pastor of the Four Steeples Parish, Officiating. Burail was in Ellisburg Cemetery. Donations may be made in her name to the Ellisburg United Methodist Church or the Arthritis Foundation. She is survived by a son, Richard, Watertown; six daughters, Mrs. William (Jean) Norris, Houston Texas, Mrs. Ronald (Carol) Rudd, Melbourne, Fla., Mrs. Donald (Barbara) Raymo, LaFargeville, Mrs. Albert (Sharon) Saumier, Miami, Fla., Mrs. Ronald (Martha) Worns, Pulaski, and Mrs. John (Lois) Hughes, San Angelo, Texas; three brothers, Charles, Herbert and Robert Smith, all of Orwell; two sisters, Mrs. Cathleen Stewart, Pulaski, and Mrs. Ethel Otis, Adams Center; 16 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A son, Clifford, died Nov. 30, 1982. Born Oct. 9, 1919 in Wilkes Barre, Pa., a daugher of Charles and Rose Kennedy Smith, she moved to Orwell in 1929 and attended Sandy Creek School. She was married to George Stewart July 2, 1937 at the home of Rev. Herbert Moore, Sandy Creek. The couple lived in the Cicero, Mannsville, Ellisburg and Adams sections. Mr. Stewart, who had worked on local farms and in the roofing and siding business, died Aug. 29, 1976. Mrs. Stewart was formerly employed at the MeadowBrook Restaurant, Ellisburg, and River Valley Inn, Mannsville. She had done some domestic work. A member of the Ellisburg, United Methodist Church, and Ellisburg Willing Workers, she was on the board of directors of Citizens United for Removal of Barriers(CURB) and had served as treasurer of the organization.
