    • Obituary of Rita C. Crowley

      Rita Catherine Crowley, age 76, resident of Pulaski since 1984, passed away Wednesday, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse. Rita was born January 10, 1943 in Pontiac, Michigan. She graduated high school from Saint Joseph’s Novitiate in 1961. Rita attended Marywood College in Scranton, PA and taught in several Catholic schools in Florida. She married Denis Crowley on September 11, 1971. She was employed by Pulaski Academy and Central School as a teaching assistant for 20 years, retiring in 2005. Rita was a member of Christ Our Light Catholic Church in Pulaski, where she was a religious education coordinator for several years in the 1980’s.

      Rita was a devoted wife to her husband, Denis. She was a loving mother to her daughter, Catherine (William) Reitz of Ferrisburgh, VT, her sons, John Crowley of Holiday, FL, James (Stephanie) Crowley of Chapel Hill, NC, Francis (Christine) Crowley of Durham, NC, and William Crowley of Charlotte, NC, and seven grandchildren, Erich Reitz, Julia Reitz, Aria Crowley, Owen Crowley, John Bryson Crowley, Savannah Crowley, and Joshua Crowley. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents William and Catherine Hart and her brothers, William and John (Diane) Hart.

      Rita enjoyed hosting family gatherings and sharing her love of cooking. Rita also enjoyed gardening, fishing and taking car trips to enjoy the scenery locally and across the United States.

      Funeral services will be held at noon, Monday, July 8th at Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 23 Niagara Street, Pulaski, with burial at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, July 7th at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park Street in Pulaski.
