Willard Henry Watkins - November 22, 1914 - June 11, 1987. Military Service: Enlisted December 1, 1941 in the Royal Canadian Air Force; Transferred August 17, 1943 to the United States Army Air Corp with rank of Staff Sergeant; April 16, 1945 reported missing in action in Germany for 23 days. Son of Lucius Alonzo and Elizabeth Ann Rice Watkins. Husband of Grace E. Mason Watkins (married August 15, 1936, divorced) & Leona Mae Bettinger Gould Watkins (divorced September 7, 1972) & Virginia Hall Vakula Watkins (married July 24, 1978.)
Newspaper Obituary - Friday, June 12, 1987 Syracuse Post-Standard - Syracuse, New York - Willard 'Bub" Watkins, 72, of Pulaski died Thursday at Veterans Administration Medical Center, Canandaigua. Mr. Watkins was born in Pulaski. He managed a service station here and retired in 1978 after 20 years as owner and operator of Bub's Restaurant He was also employed several years with the Ringgold Fire Department. Mr. Watkins served in World War II and was a member of Robert Edwards Post 358, American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was an honorary member of the Ringgold Fire Department. Surviving are his wife, the former Virginia Hall; a son, John E. of Gouverneur, two daughters, Sandra Boyd of Pulaski and Barbara Watkins of Oswego; a stepdaughter, Carol Conrad of Mexico; and seven grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home, the Rev. Virgil H. Hager officiating. Burial will be in Richland Cemetery. Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, 7385 Park Street. Contributions may be made to the Canandaigua VA Medical Center's volunteer service.
