- Herman Emory Tryon, Jr. - January 3, 1915 - November 21, 1997. Son of Herman Emory and Christine Alma Harris Tryon. Husband of Lillian Florence Sherman Tryon. Married August 21, 1937.
Newspaper Obituary - Saturday, November 22, 1997 Watertown Daily Times - Watertown, New York - Herman E. Tryon, Machinist - Herman E. Tryon Jr., 82, Center Road, died Friday afternoon at Sunrise Nursing Home, Oswego. Mr. Tryon was formerly employed at Blount Lumber Company, and General Crushed Stone, both in Lacona He was a machinist at Lipe Rollaway Company, Syracuse, for 21 years, until retiring in 1978. A life resident of the Lacona and Mannsville areas, he was a member of United Steel Workers of America. Born January 3, 1915, at Sandy Creek, a son of Herman and Christine Harris Tryon, he graduated from Belleville Academy in 1932. He married Lillian F. Sherman August 21, 1937, at Mannsville. She died November 17, 1972. Surviving are three sons, Louis, Mississippi, Frederick, Lacona, and Donald, Syracuse; four daughters, Gladys Smith, New Jersey, Catherine Gregory, Altmar, and Alma Landon and Darlene Watkins, both of Lacona; a sister, Ethel Spencer Veley, Copenhagen; a brother, Glen, Constantia; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A daughter, Patricia Tryon, died in 1985. A son, Bruce, died in 1989. Two brothers and three sisters also died before him. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Summerville Funeral Home, Sandy Creek Burial will be in Richland Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m Sunday at the funeral home.
