      Alice G. Nichols, 87, of 889 County Route 28, Tinker Tavern, died Friday at Oswego Hospital.

      Miss Nichols taught at Rome School for the Deaf for 20 years, retiring in 1974. She also taught at area rural schools for many years.

      Born May 16, 1909, in the town of Richland, daughter of Lewis and Gertrude Reese Nichols, she was a life resident of Pulaski. Miss Nichols was a 1928 graduate of Pulaski Academy High School and graduated from Oswego State Teachers College.

      She was a member of Fernwood United Methodist Church, the New York State Retired Teachers Association and the Oswego County Retired Teachers Association.

      Surviving are a sister, Frances I. Nichols, Pulaski, and several cousins.

      The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home with the Rev. Lois Hoxie officiating. Spring burial will be in Mexico Cemetery.

      Calling hours will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
