      Larry J. Austin, 56, of 5155 Route 11, formerly of Glenfield, died Saturday afternoon at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center, Syracuse. He had been ill with cancer.

      Mr. Austin was a service technician for more than 38 years for the former Agway Energy Products, now Suburban Propane, in Pulaski.

      Born March 12, 1951, in Lowville, son of Leonard E. and Justine J. Clemons Austin, he graduated from South Lewis Central School, Turin, in 1969.

      He married Diane Kirch on July 1, 1972, at the Beaver Falls United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bruce W. Chapman officiating. The marriage ended in divorce.

      He was a member of the Glenfield United Methodist Church and enjoyed spending summers at his camp at Sand Pond in Lewis County.

      Surviving are a son and his wife, James L. and Debbie, Pulaski; two daughters and a son-in-law, Nicole Hamm, Sandy Creek, and Tonya L. and Scott Shampine, Pulaski; his mother, Justine "Jolly" Austin, Glenfield; eight brothers and six sisters-in-law, Dale and Tamara, Freeville, Randy and Spring and Leon and Rae, all of Lowville, Alan, and his companion, Michelle Moore, and Neil and Tracy, all of Boonville, Mark and Dawn, Greig, Tim, and his companion, Debbie Bruce, Turin, and Brian and Jean, Elgin, S.C.; nine grandchildren, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

      His father died in December 1972.

      The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Iseneker Funeral Home, Lowville, with the Rev. Mr. Chapman, retired United Methodist minister, officiating. Burial will be in Martinsburg Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
