      Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, September 15, 1949 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Last Rites For Capt. A. Nelson - Captain Albert Nelson, 75, died Friday afternoon in Memorial hospital, Syracuse, where he had been a patient since Wednesday. He had been in failing health for some time. Funeral services were conducted from the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Eddy, North street road, Monday at 2 p.m. by Rev. Daniel W. Fowler, pastor of the Congregational church. Interment was made in Evergreen cemetery in Orwell with Masonic rites at the grave. Gerald Fraser, Mason McCune, Edward Carl, A. J. Frye and Captain Sampson acted as bearers. He had no immediate survivors except several cousins. His wife, Mrs. Maude Weimer Nelson died in 1929. Mr. Nelson was born in the town of Richland, November 28, 1873, a son of William and Alice Bohannon Nelson. He joined the old Life Saving Service in April, 1893, which later became the Coast Guard Service. He served in Fairport, Ohio, for a number of years and was Captain in charge of the station at Fort Niagara for 15 years. He retired in April, 1923, moving to Orwell in 1924. After the death of his wife he came to Pulaski where he made his home on North street road. He was a member of the Pulaski Masonic Lodge, No. 415, F. & A.M. having received a 50-year award in 1944, and was a member of the Pulaski Grange for many years.
