      William LaCelle Sr., 67, of 47 Durgee Road,Altmar,died Thursday at home.

      Born in Richland, he lived in the town of Orwell most of his life. He attended Pulaski schools. He retired in 1997 after 15 years with the town of Orwell Highway Department and also worked at Fulton Boiler Works, Pulaski. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

      Survivors: His wife, the former Alice Munger; five sons, Phillip “Ed” and Charles, both of Orwell, William Jr. of Williamstown, Theodore of North Carolina and Brian of Lorraine; five sisters, Joane Stevens of Sandy Creek, Rose Boak of Sandy Pond, Shirley Racine and Barbara Nutting, both of Pulaski, and Fern Lester of Orwell; six brothers, Tommy and Johnny, both of Pulaski, Phillip of Orwell, Robert and Richard, both of Camden, and Gerald of Altmar; seven grandchildren.

      Services: 2 p.m. Sunday at his home, 47 Durgee Road, town of Orwell. Burial, Riverside Cemetery, Altmar. No calling hours. Summerville Funeral Home, Sandy Creek, has arrangements.

      William LaCelle Sr., 67, of 47 Durgee Road, died Thursday at his home while under the care of Oswego County Hospice.

      Mr. LaCelle was a truck driver for the Town of Orwell Highway Department for 15 years, retiring in 1997.

      Born Feb. 13, 1932, in Richland, a son of Clyde and Lillian Spar LaCelle, he attended school in Pulaski.

      He married Alice Munger, and the couple lived in the town of Orwell. Mr. LaCelle was a Korean War veteran, serving in the U.S. Army from June 22, 1950, to Dec. 18, 1953.

      He was employed by Fulton Boiler Works, Fulton, for a time.

      Surviving besides his wife are five sons, Phillip “Ed” and Charles A., both of Orwell, William Jr., Williamstown, Theodore, North Carolina and Brian, Lorraine; six brothers, Tommy and Johnny, both of Pulaski, Philip, Orwell, Robert and Richard, both of Camden, and Gerald, Altmar; five sisters, Joane Stevens, Sandy Creek, Rose Boak, Sandy Pond, Shirley Racine and Barbara Nutting, both of Pulaski, and Fern Lester, Orwell; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

      Two sisters, Betty Dunbar and Mary Prins, and a brother, James, died before him.

      The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday the LaCelle home with the Rev. Tim Hurne, pastor of Pine Meadows Wesleyan Church, officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be in Riverside Cemetery, Altmar.

      There are no calling hours. Arrangements are with Summerville Funeral Home, Sandy Creek.
