      Thomas Clayton Yerdon, 81, of Redfield passed away January 18, 2016 at his home. He was born March 5, 1934 in Syracuse, the eldest son of Clayton and Erma Yerdon. He was predeceased by both his parents as well as a brother, Perry.

      He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marylou, a sister, Suzanne (Roger) Leddy of Philadelphia, NY, two daughters and a son, Jan (Peter) Hathway of Long Lake, Lori (Mike) Russell of Pulaski, and Timothy (Carolyn) Yerdon of Redfield. Also five grandchildren, Joseph (Shelly) Hathway, Thomas (Keri) Hathway, Renee (Eli) Stawicki, Mark Russell, and Thomas J. Yerdon, as well as 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

      Throughout his life he worked as a welder at Carrier Corporation for more than 30 years and also at Schoeller Paper. He worked as a logger and a mail carrier as well. He also built and established the infamous "Tug Hill Diner" in Redfield which along with his wife, he operated for 11 years.

      Tom enjoyed wood working in his garage and he was always happy to share a pot or two of coffee and a friendly chat with anyone that dropped by. He will truly be missed by many as he was a wonderful Dad, Grandpa, and Friend to all that knew him.

      "Big Tom" was a legend of North Redfield.

      In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Tom's memory to Redfield Volunteer Fire Company, Redfield, NY 13437, as they have always been there when we needed them.

      There will be no calling hours. Spring burial with graveside services will be held at the Greenboro Cemetery in Redfield at the family's discretion.

      Arrangements are by Summerville Funeral Home in Sandy Creek.
