    • Newspaper Obituary - January 13, 1949 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Last Rites Held For George L. Mowers, 69 - George, L. Mowers, 69, died Sunday evening at his home in Richland, following a short illness. A private prayer was held at the home Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. with funeral services at Altmar Methodist Church in Altmar at 2:15 p.m. Rev. A. L. Strauss Officiated and interment was made in Riverside cemetery at Altmar. Surviving besides his wife, Mrs. Myrtle Waite Mowers, are three daughters, Mrs. Arthur Davis of Pulaski. Mrs. Charles Woolsey of Binghamton and Mrs. Christine Landers of Pulaski; six sons, Orlando of Pulaski, Alfonso of Parish, John of Binghamton, Oakley of Altmar, George Jr. and Harold Mowers of Pulaski; 22 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Mr. Mowers was born in Amboy, Feb. 19, 1879, the son of John and Mary Jane Johnson mowers and had always made his home in this vicinity. He was a woodworker by trade and in his early life was employed for several years by Helm & Buckley, Altmar. For some 36 years he was in the employ of Horton Lumber Co., in Altmar, and in 1928 he moved his family from Altmar to Pulaski where he resided until the past few years when he made his home in Richland. On March 7, 1898, he was united in marriage to Miss Myrtle Mae Waite, at Altmar, and last year they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with their children and families at the home of the son, Alfonso Mowers, in Colosse. Mr. Mowers was a member of the Methodist church in Altmar.
