Military Service: Veteran of World War I; Enlisted November 29, 1914 at Fort Slocum, New York; served in Company G, 29th Infantry; Honorably discharged October 20, 1919 with rank of Corporal. Son of Edward and Mary Benway Anson. Husband of Evelyn L. Benway Anson. Married May 27, 1927 at Pulaski, New York.
      Newspaper Obituary - January 16, 1969 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Elmer Anson Succumbs - Elmer Anson, 72, of Pennellville, formerly a resident of the Canning Factory Road, died Wednesday evening, January 8 at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Syracuse, where he had been a patient only one day. Born April 23, 1896 at Kasoag, he was the son of Edward and Mary Benway Anson. He spent his early life in Rome, attending school there. He was married on May 28, 1927 to the former Evelyn L. Benway. A veteran of World War I, he served in the Panama Canal Zone and was discharged after 11 years' service. He was employed by the Regal Paper Company and Douglaston Manor Farm, retiring in 1959, moving to Pennellville about two years ago. Survivors are his wife, Evelyn Anson of Pennellville; a daughter, Mrs. (Betty) Cook of Fulton; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a brother, Albert Anson of Baltimore, Maryland; four sisters, Mrs. Robert (Dorothy) Chambers, Utica; Mrs. George (Mary) Morganroth, Camillus; Mrs. Thomas (Rose) Storms, Rome; and Mrs. Roselle Smith, Sydney; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Saturday, January 11 at the Foster Funeral Home, with the Rev. Nelson R. Reppert, pastor of Park United Methodist Church, officiating. Spring burial will be in the Pulaski Cemetery.
