      Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, July 3, 1975 Palladium Times - Oswego, New York - Man, 80, Fatally Stricken Umpiring in Little League - Daniel L. Ostrander, 80, 7700 Port Street, Pulaski, died Wednesday night enroute to the House of the Good Samaritan in Watertown. He was suddenly stricken while umpiring a Little League baseball game in Pulaski. Born December 20, 1894, in the Town of Hounsfield, Jefferson County, the son of Charles and Carrie Gaylord Ostrander. He attended Redfield schools. Mr. Ostrander came to the Pulaski area as a young man. He married Nettie LeBeau on December 15, 1915. He was employed in Syracuse as a streetcar conductor, and later was engaged in fanning in the Pulaski area. Mr. Ostrander was then employed by the Ontario Ironworks in Pulaski. He retired in 1961 after 30 years of service. He was employed summers in the Selkirk State Park until 1974. Mr. Ostrander was an ardent baseball fan, having played baseball for a number of years with the Pulaski Panthers in the old Post Standard League. For many years he was very involved in Little League baseball. He was a retired volunteer of the Ringgold Fire Department having served 27 years with the group. He was president of the department for two years and assistant chief for one year. He was a member of the Pulaski Baptist Church. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Nettie Ostrander; two sons, Frank of Caughdenoy; Kenneth of Pulaski; three daughters, Mrs. Bemarh (Ruth) Welle of Yonkers; Mrs. Richard (Jane) Barney of Brooklyn; Mrs. Fred (Dorothy) Endsley of Pulaski. A son, Robert, died in infancy. One brother, Kenneth Ostrander of Camden; and 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren also survive. Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. from the Foster-Hax Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Miller of the Pulaski Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be at South Richland Cemetery at Fernwood. Calling hours are Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Donations may be made to the Baptist Church or NOCA.
