      Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, September 27, 1905 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Friday morning, September 15, 1905. occurred the death of Giles Hemens, after a lingering illness of cancer of the stomach, which was caused from a strain received by a leading a colt several years ago. Although he was not expected to live long, his death was a shock to his relatives and friends. The deceased was born in Syracuse February 22, 1837; later his parents moved to Port Ontario. In 1872 he married Miss Lizzie Hardie, of Richland, and in 1876 moved to Pulaski, where he has since resided. The deceased was a firm believer of Christ and as the time drew near for his departure, he was ready and willing to go at the Master's call. The funeral was held from his late residence on Port Avenue, Rev. A. I. Ehle officiating. Burial at Pulaski cemetery. Mrs. Holmes and Mrs. Brooks sang, Miss Jessie Williamson accompanying. They sang three favorite pieces of the deceased, "Rock of Ages," "Jesus is Precious" and "Will There be Any Stars." Besides his wife and daughter, he leaves to mourn his loss six brothers and two sisters and a large circle of friends and relatives.
