      Milton Matteson passed away after only a few hours illness, December 16, 1909 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George Fraser.

      Mr. Matteson was born in the town of Mexico sixty-seven years ago but had been a resident of the town of Richland for many years having come to live with his daughter only a few months since. He married Addie Chamberlain who died some years ago. To them were born four children who are left to mourn the loss of the father. These are Mrs. George Fraser, George, Lloyd and Stanley Matteson.

      Mr. Matteson was a veteran of the Civil war having enlisted in the 184th N.Y. Vol., after having been for two years in the Government employ as mail carrier between Washington and Alexandria. The funeral which was to have been on Sunday, on account of the severe storm was held on Monday, Rev. W.M. Hydon officiating. Interment in Pulaski cemetery
